Summary

"Mrs. Cass, we were hoping your son could answer a few questions about the girl who disappeared last night...."

Erika Cass has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until the evening when two detectives show up at her front door.

A high school girl has vanished from Erika's quiet suburban neighborhood. The police suspect the worst - murder. And Erika's teenage son, Liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.

Erika has always sensed something dark and disturbed in her seemingly perfect older child. She wants to believe he's innocent, but as the evidence mounts, she can't deny the truth - Liam may have done the unthinkable.

Now she must ask herself: How far will she go to protect her son?

Enjoyed!

I enjoyed this! Some parts didn’t make loads of sense though but there were good twists and enjoyed the book in general!

Good but predictable

I normally don’t guess the endings but guessed the ending about midway but still enjoyed the story. The narration was good and kept me listening.

Twisty and turny

Loved this book - I was surprised and shocked many times. Always a good sign if I try to bore my friends with the details and that is what I did!

I enjoyed this book, but not as good as some of her books but defiantly worth the credit.

Good, but not her best

I enjoyed this book but found it a little rushed after the twist & lacking action. Freida is still my favourite author though.

It was ok...

I didn't enjoy this as much as other Freida McFaden books. I think for the most part it just wasn't really for me.

I did jump back on board with it when the plot twist happened. I should've trusted her writing a little more in that it would liven up at the end and it wouldn't be the obvious route. However I do have some questions that went unanswered and I feel we're supposed to forget them. (e.g terrible behaviour from a main character that we're now supposed to like?)

Two main characters speak throughout the book and it did have me guessing on their intentions and what might happen. The plot twist wasn't one of my guesses so I do have to commend that. A third character speaks out of nowhere and I see why, but it felt a bit thrown in as we hadn't heard from them before. It felt a bit of a convenient twist to the book.

The themes of the book weren't massively for me and I found myself grinning and baring it to get through. I didn't hate it on the whole. But it wasn't as good as the housemaid series in my opinion. It's a different avenue of story, but I probably wouldn't recommend.
