Surprisingly Enjoyable

Read this with an open mind, don't expect something heavy and meaningful and you could just enjoy this book for what it is, a work of fiction with a few twists. So many readers seem to expect everything to be of Jane Austin or Charles Dickens standard, lighten up and enjoy!

I spoke about this book so much that my work friends started reading too. I loved it! I read that it's being made into a netflix original series and I can't wait to relive the story again.

Good listen

A few of the twists were pretty predictable when it came down to it, and the story could have had a little more depth in my opinion, especially given that the concept is really interesting. It's good as a light listen though, and it doesn't get boring at all from the way the story is told. Good narration as well. Recommended!

Fascinating Concept

Told from the perspective of five different characters in short alternating chapters, Marrs explores the idea of meeting your soul mate in life through the help of science. A discovery has been made that allows every person to be potentially matched with their ideal partner through genetics via a simple DNA swab, which in itself is a fascinating concept and does not require too much suspending of disbelief.

None of the characters were particularly likeable, but this does not detract from the story. All showed their self-centredness, insecurities and lack of empathy towards others at times. I think Marrs explored a numbers of the themes really well, and showed both the good and bad, and its implications and consequences.

This was at times an enthralling listen, with so many twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. It had me so gripped that I listened to the last 3 hours in one sitting. However, there were times when it failed to hit the mark, and may have been a missed opportunity for the author to turn this into a real, modern-day classic.

Narration was generally very good throughout. Definitely worth a listen!

Brilliant

My first audible book and my first John Marsh book. Wow, I absolutely loved it, I couldn’t stop listening to it. I will definitely start read more of his books.

fab story, well worth listening to.

fab story, really enjoyed and I listened to it in one sitting. only issues was the bloke that read the male parts,was kind of singing the lines, got on my nerves. But don't let that put you off! a must read.

So good

I just love this book. It's a new favourite. All the characters and their stories are interesting, and the fact that they all have different narrators makes it so much better. Every chapter makes you on edge. You think it's a romance at first but it turns out almost like a thriller. Couldn't reccomend this enough.
