Summary

Arthur Vangeest has been hunting a cult known as the Ninth Circle for months and finally located their base of operations, but something goes terribly wrong before he can strike at them. Someone he trusts betrays him, and his wife and young daughter are murdered. Now he isn't sure if there is anything left to live for. But, when he exacts his revenge on the people that hurt him, he finds a new reason to stay alive.

This short story takes place several years before the events of Raven's Peak and details when Arthur first discovered Abigail and how she gave him something new to live for.

I’d hoped for longer... *slight spoiler alert*

After listening to the first 2 books, I had to jump into this one too... I mean after all, Arthur is such an intriguing character we know so little about...
Unfortunately it finished a little too soon in his tale and I still don’t know the details of what resulted in his self-imprisonment. So although it’s just as well written and narrated as the other 2 books, only being half of the expected story and only 1.5hrs long (compared with the 7-8hrs of the other books for the same credit cost) meant I couldn’t justify the full 5 stars the other books received.
