About this listen

A unique offering from the Queen of Crime. This Agatha Christie Signature Edition features the hero the world-famous author was most fond of – Mr Harley Quin, the enigmatic friend and counterpart of the rational Mr Satterthwaite.

So far, it had been a typical New Year’s Eve house party. But Mr Satterthwaite – a keen observer of human nature – sensed that the real drama of the evening was yet to unfold.

So it proved when a mysterious stranger arrived after midnight. Who was this Mr Quin? And why did his presence have such a pronounced effect on Eleanor Portal, the woman with the dyed-black hair?

Charming collection of mystery and intrigue only as Christie can do it! Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!

Brilliant collection of short stories!

I love this collection of short stories by Agatha Christie, which feature the quiet but observant Mr Satterthwaite and the mysterious Mr Quin. Mysteries to be solved (not always murder) and a sense of the darkly supernatural. I particularly enjoyed 'The Dead Harlequin' story. An overall interesting mix (some better than others) but all enjoyable. Hugh Fraser does an excellent job as always narrating the stories.

The amazing Mr Quin!

I loved this book. hard to believe it was first published in 1930. Yes there are parts of it which are dated and very well to do. However there are parts that are just magical.
The narration by Hugh Fraser was somehow comforting and apt, a pleasure to listen to.

I have always enjoyed the Poirot/Mis Marple stories, so was delighted to find this book of short stores with characters I had not come across before - Mr Quinn & Mr Satterthwaite

The glamour of the period is brought to life with the exquisite writing that delicately portrays the wonderful characters.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Very easy reading with clever plots. only marked down slightly as not so satisfied with the way it ends.

Loved Hugh's dulcit tones.
