Summary

Find the strength in your sensitivity and harness the superpowers it gives you.

Do people often tell you you’re being too sensitive when you get intensely affected by sounds, lights, or little comments? Do you find it tough to perform simple tasks because you just feel overwhelmed by almost everything around you? Do you wish you could be as unaffected as others who are able to go about their day without feeling too much?

If you think being a highly sensitive person is an endless struggle and burden, think again. Yes, highly sensitive people go through many challenges in life, as you’re well aware. You might easily feel drained by interactions, find it difficult to concentrate with so many distractions, or feel stronger emotions from ordinary encounters. As a result, you feel misunderstood by others, who label you as difficult, weak, or full of drama. But not only are they gravely mistaken, but they also have no idea just how powerful you are. There are tons of incredible strengths that come with high sensitivity.

Very interesting subject, great book!

It's such a curious and interesting subject. An HSP is not necessarily bad. I've noticed throughout this book that are so many good things coming out of it. Creativity, being thoughtful, and deep discovery on this due to the high attention and focus, high compassion upon other people. I see those as great qualities! Very interesting book!

Reassuring read for the HSP

It is so confusing being an HSP or living with an HSP. you can feel constantly misunderstood, however when you understand that the HSP simply has a thinner skin and is affected more by the things most people find easy to deal with, then what seems like their overreaction is understandable. With understanding comes peace both for the HSP, and the people that love them.
If you want to understand your HSP better or you are an HSP who needs to understand what is happening to you, this book offers a practical explanation.

Encouragement and strategies

This book gives the reader ideas of how to cope and conquer their special personality traits. It also talks about parenting a child who tends to be more sensitive. I learned about a coworker of mine who seems to fit this description, by listening to this audiobook.

Very helpful to me

I am a sensitive person who is prone to mood swings in my life. This does not affect my physical health greatly, but it can cause some distractions in my life. I get tired easily from interactions and find it hard to focus with so many distractions or feel stronger emotions from ordinary encounters. This book has helped to regulate my state of mind and heart somewhat. Recommend this book to anyone who has the same distress. May you find strength in your sensitivity, use the superpowers it gives you, and reduce the misunderstandings others have about you.

IMPRESSIVE BREAKDOWN

While listening to this book I had to constantly remind myself that Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP) was not an official syndrome or clinical disability. The author does a great job introducing each aspect of HSP, giving real-life examples. Throughout the book we are given a full picture of HSP, and the strengths and weaknesses of those who identify as HSP. The narrator coughs and clears her throat multiple times during performance which was distracting. Maybe it is harder for me to ignore the coughs because of the character traits I possess as a Highly Sensitive Person!

Really an amazing book!

The audiobook is well-organized and well-narrated, with clear and concise language that makes it easy to understand. The author uses real-life examples and case studies to illustrate her points and provide practical advice for HSPs.

One of the strengths of the book is that it offers a comprehensive overview of the trait of high sensitivity. It explains the biological and psychological basis for the trait, as well as how it manifests in different areas of life, such as work, relationships, and parenting. The book also offers strategies for coping with the challenges that HSPs face, such as setting boundaries, practicing self-care, and finding supportive communities.
