Summary

Charity Evans wants nothing more than to leave her troubled past behind and start afresh. The teacher at a London school for orphans is encouraged to have her memories blocked by hypnotist Samuel Gladstone, but when they experience visions with an unknown third person, they realize the past can never be truly erased. And now that past is returning to haunt Charity all over again.

Samuel is determined to help her, but how can a woman who trusts no man trust a hypnotist? And what dark secrets changed the charming gentleman into a desperate man who’ll do anything to keep those secrets buried?

narrator

story is good but the person narrating is rubbish. cannot do accents and all the characters sound the same. I loved the 1st trilogy and the narrator, as you could distinguish between characters. Very poor not worth my credit

How To Ruin A Good Story

If I were C.J.Archer I would be screaming from the rooftops as to how this Narrator has totally ruined my story!!
The woman’s narration is ridiculous.
The cadence of her voice alone is enough to split your eardrums but, her mispronunciation of so many English words makes me believe that she is far from an English woman….her accent and pronunciation are worse than Dick Van Dykes portrayal of a Cockney in Mary Poppins and I didn’t think that could EVER be beaten!!!!
The Producer of this production should be hauled over the coals for allowing such an awful narration to be published.
Bad enough that they allowed this woman to ruin one of C.J.Archer’s brilliant stories but, on checking the website for the other two books in the trilogy, I find that the woman has murdered the rest of the Series too…..unbelievable!!!!
To say that she has ruined this book for me is an understatement and Audible should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such an awful narration onto their lists.
I hate returning books but, this tragic piece of narration forces me into it. I refuse to waste a credit on such ear ache making narration, which has not only lost the Author the royalties to this particular book but, the whole trilogy because my hearing is too precious to me to assail it any further with this woman’s ridiculous narration!!
If you are a lover of the English language do not bother listening to this rendition. If I were C.J.Archer I would be lobbying to have my trilogy reread by a competent Narrator who could not only carry the cadence but, also pronounce the word Viscount correctly as well as the other too numerous to mention words that this Narrator murdered with her unbelievably bad narration of this book.

Couldn’t listen

First time I’ve given up on a CJ Archer book. The narrator is awful. Pronunciation strange at best and character accents a joke. Unlistenable

Interesting story but poor dialect and accents.

Curious and interesting story but odd accents and very weird pronunciations. Interested to see how the story continues and hopefully the performance develops.
