About this listen

The Devil comes to Moscow, but he isn't all bad; Pontius Pilate sentences a charismatic leader to his death, but yearns for redemption; and a writer tries to destroy his greatest tale, but discovers that manuscripts don't burn. Multi-layered and entrancing, blending sharp satire with glorious fantasy, The Master and Margarita is ceaselessly inventive and profoundly moving. In its imaginative freedom and raising of eternal human concerns, it is one of the world's great novels.

Wonderful

Such an imaginative, funny but thought provoking book. The narration is perfect , It just feels as though this is how the author would wish the story to be read. Definitely one of the best audiobooks I've listened to.

A wonderfully energised reading

A surreal magic realist story with a while menagerie of eccentric characters and situations, bought to life by the wonderfully energetic comedic reading by the reader, who is clearly enjoying this wonderful story just as much as we are!

Beautifully written and very engaging.

This is a gem. Even though it was written nearly 100 years ago the translation has not aged. Suitable for anyone over 12.

Very weird

Listened to this without knowing anything about it so was expecting it to make sense at some point. The narration was fantastic and the story was interesting if a bit strange. Once I did realise it was fantasy that didn't adhere to normality I just went with the flow. I did enjoy it but wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to others.

This book is a truly work of art

"Master and Margarita" is an amazing book due to its seamless storytelling, profound themes, memorable characters, and sharp satirical commentary. It captivates readers with its dual narrative, explores deep philosophical questions, and offers a scathing critique of Soviet society. A truly remarkable read that leaves a lasting impact.

Simply great!

I read the book many times myself and now somebody reads it for me :-) It is a wonderful story full of wit and fantasy, breathing with an absurd atmosphere of first-half-of-the-last-century Russia. Very well narrated. I can only recommend!
