About this listen

Here is one of London's famous stories of the Klondike, where men had to battle the elements, and often each other, to survive.Public Domain (P)1984 Jimcin Recordings Anthologies Anthologies & Short Stories Classics

Editor reviews

Jack London's Klondike is not a cozy climate. And, as listeners will come to find out, waking up with the two barrels of a shotgun looking down on you is merely par for the course in this part of the country. Celebrated Audible narrator John Chatty ramps up the intensity in London's The Man with the Gash, giving new life to the miserly Jacob Kent and his mysterious guest. After years of operating a cabin for prospectors - and thoroughly taking advantage of these weary travelers - Jacob Kent is host to the foul-mouthed Jim Cardegee who is looking to tip the scales back toward the travelers' favor.

It's a very good short story, but it is not the best, Jack London has written.
Anyway read it. It is good.
