Summary
Luck is no lady...in fact, she can be a downright bitch.
Jake:
Coming home was supposed to be my shot at redemption. Instead, I’m finding myself chasing after an irresistible blonde whose mercurial behavior could give Jekyll and Hyde a run for their money. I’ve got too much on my plate to get tied up in knots over a girl who wants nothing to do with me. But Bailey Murphy may hold the key to my redemption, and I’m not giving up on either without a fight. "Irish" might play with a poker face, but I’m about to call her bluff...and I hope like hell I’ve got luck on my side.
Bailey:
Let’s get one thing straight. I am not your typical girl. Sure, I’ve got all the parts, but I’ve been a stubborn, irreverent tomboy since the womb. Which makes it particularly ironic that my heart is so damn girly. It falls in love at the drop of a hat and leaves me to deal with the aftermath. But no more! If Jake Beckett thinks spending one night together gives him some claim on me, he’s got another thing coming - even if the mere thought of that night leaves me panting like a damn Labrador. I’m not about to open the door and let Jake in, but that choice may be taken from both our hands.

Funny and enjoyable light book to listen to
I'm really enjoying this series of books by this author. This like the previous ones I've listened to was a great, light, fun and enjoyable book with great likable characters and a Interesting storyline.
The narration was expressive and clear, and I definitely preferred the narration of this book to the previous books I've listened to by this author.

This is by far (currently) my favorite book in the series. It’s hilarious and swoony. Totally my favorite trope and I loved the characters so much!

Can't get enough of this series 💕💕
It's Bailey and Jake's turbulent journey to love with lots of comical situations 😅and angst along the way. Sylvie Stewart knows how to draw the reader in from the beginning with all the familiar characters of the series playing their part. The great narration certainly brought life to the story and I'm looking forward to the next instalment where Gavin meets his nemesis.

Have a glass of wine & let this book take you away
“Sylvie Stewart” delivers compelling emotion, fascinating characters and edge romance in a razor-sharp, thoroughly modern voice that readers will absolutely adored, just like I did. Let this fabulous book transports you away from everyday life and escape into this fantastic rom-com where you can listen with a nice glass of wine and a box of chocolates while you can cozy up on the couch and get swept away. Brilliant way to spend an evening or when you fancy. Bring on the next book please! Happy listening!!

More fun as an audiobook
The Lucky One, like the rest of the Carolina Connections series, is a lot more fun as an audiobook than when I read it for myself in print/ebook. I would have liked to have dual narration for dual first person POV, but Meg Price does a good job covering both parts.
Overall, I'd recommend this series. The Lucky One is a standalone with no cliffhanger and you could read only this one, but you shouldn't.

I wish I could be so lucky
Bailey does not let others in. She is still holding on to her tomboy ways, but her heart is about to betray her. Jake is determined to break Bailey down. I love his nickname for her. It is so fitting, both fun and feisty. This is such a fun and light romance. Jake won my heart from the beginning and the chase really made the story so much fun. Bailey's hard to get attitude created a dynamic between her and Jake that I could not get enough of. It is the perfect laugh out loud romance that I could not put down until the end.
Meg Price is the perfect Bailey. Meg brings out the spunk and attitude of Bailey, exactly like I imagined her to be. Meg Price has a smooth male voice that was easily distinguishable. Meg has an easy to listen to voice, easy to follow and uses consistent different tones for each character. Through her narration, Meg helped me get lost in the story.
