Summary
Best-selling author and Bible teacher Sheila Walsh unpacks the deepest longings of a woman's heart and encourages listeners to discover God's relentless pursuit of them through those very longings.
We vowed we'd never repeat the same mistakes - yet we find ourselves right where we started. What is it that keeps drawing us back into the same old traps? The fact is our longings are built from the blueprint of our needs - for protection, for love, for God - and those needs aren't going anywhere.
Sheila speaks candidly about the trials in her life, including the heartache of her first marriage, and intertwines her story with the biblical saga of King David. As both Sheila's and David's stories make clear, some cravings are misguided, but they all stem from the same hunger - and they will haunt us until that hunger is properly satisfied. If we keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in our own lives, The Longing in Me will help us understand that our cravings are not the problem; it's where they lead us that makes all the difference.

Good book, disappointing narration
Sheila Walsh tells her story in a moving way, linking her experiences with stories from the Bible and pointing towards the only One who can truly satisfy.
Having said that, I did find the narrator's voice irritating, almost harsh. And it was disappointing to hear an American accent reading words written by someone with Scottish roots. I just couldn't marry the voice with the words. Perhaps this wouldn't be a problem for a non-Brit.

Excellent book a shame about the narrator
Fantastic book, it's a shame the narrator is so dead, robotic and wooden i don't know how she managed to get the job! However the book is a must listen/ must read.

Great content, shame about the narration
Really enjoyed this book, found the content interesting, inspiring and encouraging. Sheila’s transparency and honesty shine through and the way she relates to the story of David is great. Found the narration robotic and slightly annoying as the voice gets into your head! But it didn’t put me off wanting eagerly to continue and finish the book. Would recommend to anyone who knows a bit about Sheilas story already and to anyone wanting, needing to understand themselves and the grace of God better.

American narrator for British author.
The narrator is obviously American yet the author is very British/Scottish which grated on me the whole way through and made it hard for me to identify with the story.

Narration let's it down
The content of this book is fantastic. The narration however is quite robotic. Worth persevering with though. for the message.

Encouraging and challenging!
Sheila is very open about her struggles and the ideas she had formed from her experiences.
She shares these and how she learnt about herself to help others.
Karen was a great narrator once I was over the disappointment of not hearing Sheila's lilting Scots.
Thank you

Deeply touched the longing in me
…. And clearly pointed the way back to the Father-heart of God. Sheila in her searingly honest and raw way reveals her brokenness so that we can see our own and shows just why we will never be satisfied until we are reconnected and in relationship with the One who fulfill all longings completely
