Absorbing story. Told well highly recommended. Distracting voice over at times . Improved by the use of a British voice over artist.

Needed an English voice over artist

I really enjoyed the story and the fact it was set in old English times. I don't know why so many reviewers didn't like the narrator, I thought she was fab! Totally recommend!!

Absolutely loved this!

I loved the audio book. Narrated very well. A tale of: little shivers and warmth x

A Gripping Tale.

Great story and enjoyed it. So well written, but so annoying having an American narrator reading an English story.
I kept shouting ‘it’s not Larger, it’s Lodger’!!

Very frustrating narration

Reading other reviews I thought I wouldn’t enjoy the London based horror, read by an American but I quickly forgot her accent! If anything she had a London Birmingham mix twist to it! Not quite a Dick van Dyke put on! 🙈😂
The story itself based around one family and you don’t actually hear from the murderers part so it’s not gory. If someone had described the book to me in detail I would never have listened to it but I found myself wanting to know how they got on, were they going to be his next victims.
Sweet, light, easy and I took to the whole family - weird way to describe a horror book but there you go! Try it ;)

Really enjoyed it!

I love these type of stories - Jack the Ripper sort of thing. This was really entertaining and I was kept guessing and wondering what carnage will befall the the family.

Victorian suspense

Dreadful narration. The voices of the Londoners were so grating and artificial. The story itself, long and drawn out, ending very unsatisfactorily, but it was the narration that really killed it for me.

Not for me

Excellent book.
Yes, the narrator is has an American accent, and some pronunciations of words are questionable. But the story is excellent, please don’t let that put you off.
It kept me guessing until the very end, and was just the right amount of eerie. The language is beautifully descriptive, and really adds to the atmosphere. I loved it.

They don’t write them like this anymore!

Great voice and reading and enthralling story! I truly recommend this on a cold winter’s night…

What a lovely surprise!

Awful narration. The accent was grinding throughout. Story not too bad. Better if just read rather than poorly acted.

Read by Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins mode
