About this listen

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.

We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose.

Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defence.

This book gives the reader a brilliant insight into all the peculiarities of human nature, no aspect of it is off limits including some of the uglier sides of our nature. It explains why we sometimes do things that are counterproductive or detrimental through the lens of historical accounts that are very relatable to.

A brilliant insight into human nature!

The depth and breadth of this work is a major achievement by Robert Greene. This is certainly a book I will revisit. I'm sure that in decades to come it will still be a highly relevant book that many people will learn a lot from. The narration is enjoyable and well suited to the text.

Robert Greene is an amazingly expresive writer and his historical annecdoes are just spot on.

You can learn (almost) everything you need to know about human nature from this book and use it to better yourself and understand the people you are dealing with.

Makes you fascinated with people and human nature. Why did my manager act the way he did? Why did my partner say that? What motivated my sibling to do that? The answers are all in here.

Will definitely go through the book again and take way more notes than I did the first time around.

Each chapter slowly made this my favorite book

Fantastic listen. The manner in which Greene brings together stories of past to demonstrate the 'Laws' described in the book is outstanding - and concluding each chapter with lessons learned, gives one the tangible opportunity for practical application in everyday life.

Sublime

A truly great piece of work by Robert Greene! Extensive attention to detail in his work and a listen that will so often leave you thinking ‘I can relate to everything he’s saying’ A perfect dissection of human nature with all it’s flaws and strengths and how you can take any characteristic or law of human nature and educate yourself to adapt or use it to your advantage!

Masterpiece from a man who spares no attention to detail!
