Doesn’t disappoint
Gripping makes you feel as if you were there but without the like hood of you dying a most death from either a bayonet or from a cannon ball

Interesting view on a little known European war.
Interesting insight on a war that is little known in Britain. Written with the visceral verve and deep knowledge that have become Collard's trademark. Perhaps a little contrived and possibly too obvious a bridge to the next installment in Jack Lark's journey, the story at times came across as an episodic filler. The sentiment was occasionally a bit too thick and overblown, becoming a drag on a narrative pace that was itching to be set free of it. But who cares! It was an informative, entertaining and all-round good yarn. Another excellent addition to the Jack Lark library and another relatively obscure and horrendously bloody battle exposed to our appalled gaze. Brilliantly read too. A thoroughly recommended buy in audio or written format.

Another enjoyable read
If you haven't seen the others, watch out for them. This is a good story and the main character has a long journey ahead. I look forward to reading it?
