Summary
'This should be on every crime reader’s Christmas wish list’ CHRIS WHITAKER, bestselling author of We Begin at the End
*THIS WINTER'S MOST CHILLING KINDLE TOP 20 BESTSELLER*
*
In the picturesque village of Kibblesworth, DI Tom Stonem is dreaming of a quiet Christmas alone.
But in the shadow of the Angel of the North, a body lies waiting. The dead man is posed with a child’s Christmas list in his pocket, and the first mysterious item – 1. No angel – is crossed off.
When a second body is found – a woman, stabbed in the abdomen after her work Christmas do – Stonem is convinced there’s a grim connection between the crime scenes and the seemingly innocent list. 2. Red partee dress. Could this be a murderer’s twisted code?
As a blizzard rages in the Tyne & Wear countryside, the body count is snowballing. Can Stonem stop the killer before they get everyone on their Christmas list?
An anti-cosy Christmas crime novel for fans of The Killer in the Snow and One by One.

I love a great murder mystery & this is definitely one.
Fabulous characters and a great story.
The narrator was brilliant & the different accents were very good.

Wow - twist in the Tail end of this tale
I saw all the rave reviews for this book and kept thinking why? It was ok, the narration is good - apart from a couple of mispronunciations - e.g. ethereal, - but wait till the end! I’ve just finished listening and still smiling at the ingeniousness of this story!

Not my favourite.
I felt the use of so many swear words in so many places was really unnecessary. It felt like a book that someone wrote one day and won a competition to get published. Like a low budget production.

Some surprising and satisfying twists.
I enjoyed this. I agree that accents were sometimes laboured, but I’ve definitely heard worse. My criticism- which I hope the author will take as constructive- is the odd use of first names for police officers and suspects. It was all very informal and “chummy” and quite confusing at times. I prefer police called by their rank and/or surname until we are familiar with them. And suspects should definitely be given both names. There were some other odd language choices, but overall a very clever and intriguing plot.

Location
Loved this from start to finish, was nice to hear a local book! Recognised most of the settings within, gripped from start to finish and did not expect the plot twist at all!

Great book sadly for me
Narration let it down. It felt laboured and slow in a lot of places. Accents weren’t great and it just sounded like the narrator wasn’t that interested!! How I sound when I’m Reading to my 6 yo the same book over and over.
However I enjoyed the story and will look out for the authors next one. Praying he changes narrator!
