About this listen

The Kaiju Preservation Society is John Scalzi's first stand-alone adventure since the conclusion of his New York Times best-selling Interdependency trilogy.

When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on.

What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda, and they're in trouble.

It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society who's found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die.

Solid romp of a story

Not at all serious in tone, entertaining plot and well narrated. I really enjoyed listening to this.

Great Fun and a marvelous performance by Wil!

This is like the greatest pop song!! Fun and refreshing, Scalzi has created a world full of adventure and joy.

Wil Wheaton's performance of it adds even more sparkle.

It's laugh out loud funny in places, it'll leave you with a smile and wanting just a bit more!

Great fun!

As John Scalzi says at the end, this is a 'pop song' of a book, written during a difficult year. It is. But it's good fun and I enjoyed it!

Brilliant listen

This was an excellent well paced listen. Wheaton is a superb narrator and I didn’t want it to finish. I hope he writes a sequel. If you’re a Godzilla/Jurassic Park fan then this is for you

Lots of fun and very entertaining

An easy listen that engages and takes you on a fantastic (and fantastical) journey throughout. It builds a great world very easily that generally sits in believability.
Will Wheaton gives an excellent performance as the narrator of our story, working well from the 1st person perspective to elevate the story further

Donate to the KPS! Save the Kaiju!

Story races along with humour and Wil conveys the same reactions I probably would have if I ever actually came close to a Kaiju. Which hopefully I won't.

Familiar but exciting and fun

The book started of quite slow, but the pace and excitement increased. Great read. And Wheaton is as always outstanding in his reading. All in all a fantastic book.

Improvement in the writing

It seems like John Scalzi has finally moved past his annoying habit of constantly writing 'he said' 'she said' when people are speaking which only improves his books for the better! A very entertaining listen as always and Will Wheaton's is a great narrator.
