Summary
A socialite accused of murder, planted evidence, and mysterious enemies challenge blind detective Daiyu Wu in her new sleuthing adventure.
When a highly respected member of the "Little Mexico" community is killed in 1930 Dallas, all the evidence points toward Grace Pierce, wife of a local businessman and a former member of the Ku Klux Klan. Grace’s son Truman turns to Daiyu Wu and her unique detective skills for help, but Dai quickly discovers that nothing about this case is what it seems. With her companion Jacques and canine bodyguard Prince Razor, Dai must navigate a family in turmoil, racial tensions, and shady business deals to find the actual killer before Truman's mother is sentenced to death.

Enjoyable
Book 2 in the Daiyu Wu mystery series.
I like the idea of a blind Chinese detective in 1930's America and the main characters are nicely defined but I found the plot didn't do them justice.
The narrator is a big improvement over Book 1 and certainly helped to keep the story interesting.

murder mystery
Loved the narration of Brandon S. Borko
Daiyu Wu, is intelligent, and being blind in the 1930s does not hold her back. But being Chinese in 1930s Texas is a major disadvantage but helps her understand how the Hispanic population there must feel. When one of the highly respected Hispanic members is murdered. The murderer looks like someone who is an ex-member of the KKK. Her son askes Daiyu for help, she knows that she cannot say "no".
This is an exciting, and intriguing, mystery.

Clever mystery.
This entertaining mystery has a unique feature: Dai, the lead character and sleuth, is blind. She doesn’t let this limit her, however. Helped by Jacques (my favourite character) she cleverly solves the crime, after a lot of twists and turns.
The book is very well narrated.

really different and intriguing
this was really different both the time frame and the main protagonists. it took me a while to get used to the narration but in the end I could see how it suited the story.
I hadn't listened to book one but it didn't make any difference.
the discussions re the racial issues was interesting.
