Half way through and enjoying this very much. I am not disappointed. I chose to take this book on Audible rather than reading it in hard copy so I am quite ok with the passages that would have been easier to absorb in print. That is not the fault of Hachette, the performer or the author. I am gripped by the story so far. I pre-ordered this book knowing I wanted the next episode of this journey of Robin and Cormoran. There is lots of that so I won't send it back.

Editing after the finish. I do wish the people who gave up before the end had stuck with it. Robert Galbraith writes for print, so the difficulties engendered by audio performance are acceptable to me. The story is what I wanted and we certainly got a great story.

Great to have Robin and Cormoran's next phase completed. Can't wait for the next one.

Been waiting for this book
so when it arrived and was soo long I was anticipating loads of
enjoyment.
I got a lot of entertainment out of it but found it rather meandering and more of a commentary of the dark side of social
media than a thrilling and compelling story.
The in game chats illustrated to me why human communication is so much better but they were a real slog to listen to and must have been mind numbing to narrate.
The Strike -Robin dynamic inched forwards minimally and the end of
the novel felt really rushed.. Good book but J K has more amazing works.. putting my pre order for Strike 7 as soon as I am able though….

Wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this but ended up listening to it during the day, something I never do with audio books!

I think Robert Glenister (or the producer) made the perfect decision on those in-game conversations etc — they start off with almost no inflection which admittedly does make them difficult to listen to but perfectly reflects the fact that there really is “no tone of voice on the internet”. As the story progresses, Glenister adds more “character”, just as somebody actually in those chats would almost inevitably do. Judge for yourself the matches between apparent intent of the typed words and the actual motivations as events in the real world unfold (and maybe how much more credulous people become when they “know” who someone is).

For me, took some investment up front but paid off handsomely.

The story and narration are probably fine but I gave up after a chapter of narrating text messages which I just couldn't get into. The text book may be fine.

I struggled to begin with keeping up with the social media conversations, but it gets a lot easier to follow and you begin to picture the different characters behind the usernames.

...& characters, the synopsis. Hated the columns of text, Blog, twitter feed. Found it too difficult to follow. As usual, a very complex scenario which needed a spreadsheet to decipher, but it was too exciting to slow my progress. Great work again, JKR/RG.

Now yes i do agree the twitter part was a bit boring and yes i struggled to engage and properly listen at times BUT i still loved it.
Possibly because im biased and i love everything about these books- strike and robin, the storylines and the narration. I feel a connect to these characters and it was worth the wait.
So its a big yes for me …. It was worth the analogy of the twitter parts being read out 😵‍💫 as overall still very much enjoyed… already looking forward to next one

This book improves with every reread/listen. It is so complex & the characters so intricate & almost universally flawed in some way, it really does merit repeated visits. I’m such a huge fan of jkr’s writing skill & I cannot wait for the next book.

I have found this book impossible to finish because of the endless reference to Twitter feed which is a major element in the narrative. I can't express how disappointed I am. Until now every one of the Strike books has improved on the last. It might be that J.K. has become hooked on the evils of social media. She's certainly been tormented by trolls herself, but while my sympathy is totally with her, it would have been better to exclude them from her work. They take up too much time and space and slow the story down.

I nearly stopped listening after ten Chapters. The ‘Private Chats’ and messages were difficult to follow and listen too. The language was also extremely strong and I think unnecessary at times. Shock factor, but too much of it. I understand it added to the the story line, but there was just way too much, I found myself switching off. What kept me listening was the talented narrator! His use of accents, pace and tone made this book and it’s characters come to life. If it wasn’t for Robert Glenister’s narration I would have given up. If this book was reduced by 50%, it would be a good book and an easier read. Not sure if the beginning of every chapter having excerpts from other books helped. I was seriously fed up with them. The plot is good, but most of it is just boring. Which is a shame. I also guessed the killer half way through too. Galbraith has created some fantastic characters and I hope this isn’t the last we hear of them. But hopefully not so painfully long winded.
