Summary

Little Fires Everywhere meets Get Out and The Stepford Wives in the spectacular new novel from the New York Times best-selling author Chandler Baker.

Soon to be a major film.

Behind every successful woman...there's a secret worth killing for.

The wives here are different. They are living proof that women can have it all: successful careers, loving families, beautiful homes.

Their husbands are different too. They are living proof that men can do just as much as women. They can remember the kids' schedules, use an iron and notice when the house needs dusting.

Nora thinks she's found the perfect new home for her family. But when she agrees to get involved in a wrongful death case in the neighbourhood, Nora becomes convinced that there's a dark secret at the heart of this perfect world.

For these women, it seems the secret to having it all is worth killing for....

What women are really thinking

I really enjoyed this book. The mix of commentary on women's roles and 'mothers load' in modern society and the twist in the story (which I won't spoil) was clever. There is a particular chapter when she's talking about resentment and it's so insightful. I think the author has really tapped into what women are really thinking these days. I looked forward to playing the next part each day, which is always a good sign.

Superb! This is the reality for the majority if women

Sums up so, so much of the modern woman’s experience of everyday frustration and ultimately grudging acceptance, wrapped up an entertaining ball of a story.
My husband is a rarity in which he does largely more than most, but accepts I still do the majority of the mental load. I’m ecstatic he even understands that there is a mental load is! He supports my career and overseas work travel, and yes we have a child.
This book really lays out in unarguable terms the reality of many woman and I applaud it, we need much more of this!
Loved all the characters, a definite must read especially for those with that nagging feeling of unfairness, but haven’t put it in to words.

The premise of change behaviour

The end is boring . Morality predictable. I don’t agree with the final point of view

Great book, compelling!

Finished listening to the book and it was great. The women seem real in that they have to carve time to keep house, run errands, make appointments.
great twist at the end!

Hits a raw nerve for most women but well worth the listen!

Great storyline and narration, certainly makes you wonder what you’d do in this circumstance lol

Finished this only because it was bookclub “read”

The premise was good but the execution poor. I don’t know how many times we needed to hear about Nora’s thoughts spiralling off in other directions. Click, click, click; certainly wasn’t the cogs in Nora’s brain. I’m no Miss Marple
but I figured the whole thing out quite early on. I wish Mora had too.
I don’t know if I disliked Nora and cared less about her more so or because of the narrator, and don’t get me started on foy-er and chase long.

Not for me - really slow

Hard to listen to and found it quite boring. Played it to fall asleep to as it would switch me right off

#FirstWorldProblems

A hideously stereotypical portrayal of middle class parenting. A disgraceful curse of knowledge assuming that every woman is as weak as this bunch! This isn’t about the gender gap this is about dull women that chose dreadful partners! Do not read!
