Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Return to the dark underbelly of Ardnakelty in the thrilling new sequel to The Searcher.
It’s a blazing summer when two men arrive in a small village in the West of Ireland. They’re coming to get rich, but what they bring is trouble.
Waiting for them is Cal Hooper, a retired Chicago detective who moved to rural Ireland looking for some peace. He’s found it, more or less – in his relationship with local woman Lena, and the bond he’s formed with tearaway teenager Trey Reddy. As the two men circle the townland with talk of a scheme to find gold in the mountainside, Cal gets ready to do whatever it takes to protect Trey. Because one of them is no stranger: he’s Trey’s father. But Trey doesn’t want protecting. What she wants is revenge.
Crackling with tension, THE HUNTER explores what we’ll do for our loved ones, what we’ll do for revenge, and what we sacrifice when the two collide.
'A richly told tale of tangled loyalties. French ratchets up the tension in increments . . . By the end, these characters have taken on such solidity that, long after finishing it, I often catch myself wondering how they’re doing – a testament to the author’s mastery of her craft' GUARDIAN

fake Irish accent
very annoying voice terrible Irish accent..
clear enough diction.
there are very few people in Ireland today who use this type of paddy whack language although not the narrators fault, it's the way it's written.

Another great story from Tana French, beautifully written and wonderfully narrated.
You are always afraid that the 3rd book in a series that you have loved is not going to be as good as the others. But have no fear, this third book is every bit as good as the others. It actually might be the best and is definitely my favorite. Another wonderful story that is beautifully told.

The realness of the characters
Loved the first book, but think I loved this more. Hopefully there will be another 🤞
The characters are familiar, but you are still surprised by what some of them are capable of. Tana French is definitely one of my favourite authors

Outstanding characterisation
I was thrilled to find this book because I loved The Searcher. Fabulous characters, vivid descriptions of the scenery and wry dialogue, all narrated by the wonderful Roger Clark. Tana French, I’m a huge fan and I’ll be listening to this again and again.

Absolutely marvellous
Tana French never disappoints. In this, she continues to explore the mentality of a small close-knit community in the Cal Hooper series. There are many twists and turns and many unresolved issues, especially from the first book. Again moral principles are blurred,, which adds to the depth, much more than the usual, conventional crime novel. I do hope the series continues.

Rich telling of a dark story
Loved the tight plotting, the great characters and their dialogue. The reading was fantastic too. And a moral challenge to the reader.
