About this listen
A family torn apart. A king with an iron fist. Will their faith be strong enough to survive persecution and reunite?
Three books full of harrowing, historical adventure!
Jeanne is the wife of a wealthy merchant, but now she risks losing everything. Louis XIV's soldiers will stop at nothing to forcibly convert the country's Protestants to the "true" faith. The men ransack Jeanne's belongings and threaten her children.
If Jeanne and Jacob can't find a way to evade the soldiers' clutches, their family will face a fate far worse than poverty and imprisonment. They may never see each other again....
The Huguenot Chronicles is a gripping historical drama that spans continents, from King Louis’ France to the Caribbean, and from London to colonial New York. If you like fast-paced adventure, vivid depictions of the past, and heartfelt tales of love and loyalty, then you'll love Paul C.R. Monk's emotional epic.
Buy The Huguenot Chronicles trilogy to start a compelling, cross-continental journey through the 17th century today!

Interesting stories, less explored in English.
Reasonable historical fiction. Some anachronisms (French republican tricoleur in Bourbon times, Spain’s papal approval for S American colonisation not being shared with Portugal) suggesting inadequate basic historical education. It addresses subjects less popular in anglophone literature, visits places less explored, reminds us that the difficulties of refugees are not new. Louis XIV impoverished French economy and culture by persecuting and expelling Huguenots. A large number of migrants challenges even the most tolerant nation. Migrants may accept great danger and hardship to escape unacceptable conditions, but can prove resilient and adaptable, beneficial to the country which accepts them. There’s much resonance with Jewish history.

An excellent read.
Very well researched and beautifully written. Well worth a read. The account is informative, engaging and heartwarming at the same time despite the injustices described. So glad I came across this author and will be reading more books from him.

An OK listen
I finished this at the second attempt. I cannot put my finger on what was missing. The ending was very rushed. I wasn't able to 'see' the characters as I listened and lost all sense of the historical period as the stories progressed. It was worth a listen but I won't turn to it again sadly but hope others enjoy it more.

Interesting story through conflict
Rambling at times to show the troubles and strife caused by greed and power.
It is estimated between 200k and 900k protestants were displaced during these times.
French only offering an apology In October 1985, in the tricentenary of the Edict of Fontainebleau, French President François Mitterrand issued a public apology to the descendants of Huguenots around the world.
