it's very simple and isn't super packed with action but a good balance between fights and just living. can't quite put my finger on it but just resonates with you and you want to keep listening. was buzzing when seen book 4 had been released after doing all 3 previous in a week a month ago, sadly after 2 days im now left waiting again for number 5.

you just don't want it to end.

a lot of BIG moves in this book.
things are finally coming to a boiling point and I love the pacing for this
many authors would have waited a few more books before the events that happened in this book - and they would have been wrong
as I said the pacing is amazing and is another great addition to the series

another smash hit

I really enjoyed book 3 "The Shimmering Labyrinth" and is my favorite of the series so far, but this was a great continuation in the series.

Like in the last book, we really see Eric grow into his own through out the book as he joins the hounds and begins to operate on his own.

As for the end of book 4, WOW!

Can't wait for book 5 now later this year!!!

Brilliant Book 4!

I honestly can't put my finger on what makes this so good! It's by far one of the best series out there.

One of the best

It took me just under two days to finish this book—I couldn’t stop listening. Jumping straight from the last book into this one felt seamless. Now I really need book 5... and 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

That said, Erick basically played house for about eight hours of this book. I still loved it though, especially after book 3, which was one long battle. This entry had a slower, more deliberate pace for about the first three-quarters—focused on recovery and growth—before the story kicked into high gear again for the final quarter.

Given the title and how book 3 ends, you know Erick is about to become a hound. There’s essentially a training arc that takes up around a quarter of the book. I enjoyed it, but I kind of wish the book had been an extra 1–3 hours longer, just to explore more of the fights, side characters and the fallout of this book. Whiles i understand that's what a 5th book is for,

While I wouldn’t call the ending a cliffhanger, it did feel abrupt. Some major events happen, and then it’s basically a "next episode" style fade to black. Still, this was one of the best books showcasing Erick as a total badass. With just his normal strength and spell forms, barely anyone in the Empire can challenge him—and when he pulls out his rare magics, he’s still the overpowered 1v1 nightmare we know and love.

The strangest part might be where Erick goes next. After four books building to the last 30 minutes of this one, he does his thing… and just nopes out. It’s a bold move, but one I actually found funny. Minor spoiler: book 5 seems like it’ll be a bit of a soft reset or fresh start. I’m here for it.

Book 4 and it's just as good if not better.
