Summary
After a botched raid in Afghanistan, ex-army specialist Michel Deverroux returned to Galveston, Texas, with more baggage than intended. Without family, friends, or money, Michel turned to drugs to relieve the horrors of war. He knew it was a dark path, but he saw no other choice. Michel was awash in a world of numbness and addiction until his estranged uncle Andy died, leaving Michel a rundown beach front home and a hefty inheritance.
With something to finally call his own in the world, a spark of hope returns to Michel's life - a spark that is ignited when he sees a somber yet beautiful woman walking along the beach. Michel falls instantly in love with her and nicknames her his "Mermaid". Now, determined to be a man that his new love would want to be with, Michel vows to turn his life around and win over his "Mermaid", Annabelle. Overcoming the shadows of his past seems nearly impossible, but the drive to have Annabelle gives Michel the motivation to overcome his demons.

Such a sweet story of second chances and redemption. Of forgiveness of ones self and of others. Narration was good.

Grabs your heart.
This book grabs your heart from the beginning. You feel Michels struggles from Afghanistan to home and how he overcomes his past. I love the characters and how well they communicate. This has a good ending and good narration.

Michel and Annabelle!
Michel still bears the emotional scars of serving in Afghanistan and is trying to adjust to civilian life. When his uncle passes away he finds out that he has inherited a house and hopes that this is the new beginning he needs.
When he walks into one of the shops in town he is surprised to see the woman that he has seen taking her nightly walks on the beach. She has a painful past of her own but will they be able to heal each other?
This is an emotional story about love, healing and new beginnings. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life.

The Heart of a Hero
I enjoyed listening to D C Cole, very good narrator and made the listening experience even better.
Well now this story will tug at your heart strings, a hero in so much pain. You will find redemption, emotional healing and new beginnings.
Michael is home after being in Afghanistan. He learns that his uncle the man who care and loved him has passed away and he has inherited all his fortune from him. One day a woman walking on the beach catches his eye. When he final meets her. He knows this could be the woman for him.
A great hot steamy love story.
