About this listen

Alexandra Brighton has spent the last five years in Boston, with all evidence of the wild frontier girl she used to be erased. Before she settles down, she's determined to visit her childhood home. When she finds herself far from her destination, she has no choice but to have the rugged Malcolm Kincaid escort her to Montana.

Now that Malcolm finally has the name and location of the man who killed his brother, he has no interest in protecting a pampered Eastern lady. But something about her tells him he just can't leave her behind. And by the time they reach Montana, Malcolm must decide if seeing justice done for past wrongs is worth losing a future with a woman he never expected to need.

I hadn't read anything from this author prior to this, and I can safely say I won't be wasting any more money on her books. I'm not sure what genre this book is listed as on Amazon, but it certainly should be Fantasy, pure Fantasy. For me a book should be realistic and there's simply nothing realistic about this tale. I don't want to give out any spoilers, but really, in the middle of the wilderness, the girl wishes she had some kind of medical supplies or herbal remedies ~ then, lo and behold, she wanders outside and finds exactly what she needs! Even the fact that there's a cabin conveniently located nearby, fully stocked with flour and other foodstuffs is simply laughable. There's no substance to the book at all and the characters are weak and bland, with little to no development arc. I struggled with this particular narrator as she reads in a bland and toneless voice, without any inflection at all. Her voice just runs on, as if there's no punctuation at all. If Mills and Boon type fantasy romance is your thing, then this is for you. Otherwise, steer clear.
