Excellently performed - it was good to hear the names pronounced by a native speaker. Others have criticised the book as being a predictable read - i disagree. I can see where some may say its a variation on Rebecca which it may well be but is none the worse for it if thats the case - i always thought Rebecca was a variation on a theme of Jane Eyre. I enjoyed it for what it was, a well written story and, had I've been reading the book, i would also take issue with those who say that its not a page turner. It kept my attention and thats not an easy task where fiction is concerned.

I think this would have been better as a short story. It's atmospheric and nicely described but I struggled to finish it. I kept listening to it just because I wanted to see when is something going to happen. It went so long at the beginning with some details that weren't intrigue and I felt like the last chapters where in a rush. I felt like there was only one plot which could have had less chapters to reach it.

The Glass Woman is an imaginatively plotted, immersive and well-researched novel. Caroline Lea conjures the harsh yet starkly beautiful landscape of 17th century Iceland so that it not only permeates the actions and emotions of her characters, it emerges as equally strong and unforgettable in its own right.
