About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Outside a remote manor house in an idyllic wood, a baby girl is found.

The Harrington family takes her in, and disbelief quickly turns to joy. They're grieving a terrible tragedy of their own, and the beautiful baby fills them with hope, lighting up the house's dark, dusty corners. Desperate not to lose her to the authorities, they keep her secret, suspended in a blissful summer world where normal rules of behaviour - and the law - don't seem to apply.

But within days a body will lie dead in the grounds. And their dreams of a perfect family will shatter like glass.

Years later, the truth will need to be put back together again, piece by piece....

From the author of Black Rabbit Hall, The Glass House is a emotional, thrilling audiobook about family secrets and belonging - and how we find ourselves when we are most lost.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this intriguing story and didn't find the different timelines and narrators at all confusing. The characters were all well drawn and the various mysteries unfolded slowly over the whole book. Just when you thought everything had been explained, another surprise emerged. I thought it was very well crafted. A sign of a good book - I was really sad when the end came and can't wait to hear more of Eve Chase.

What a great listen.

I wasn't prepared for how much I would enjoy this novel and its reading by Katherine Press. This is the first Eve Chase title I have read/listened and I feared it might be too lightweight a chicklit story. Not at all. The characters are well drawn, the storyline is engrossing and well-managed across timeliness and the images of the ever-present forest give an emotional and almost spiritual charge to the tale.
Now to decide which Eve Chase to read next ....

Captivating tale of intermingling lives
