About this listen
"Absolutely gripping… blew me away… Words can’t describe how good this book is." (Heidi Lynn's Book Reviews)
The USA TODAY top 100 best-seller you won’t want to miss!
The high chair lay on its side, a toy elephant and a crumpled green blanket scattered across the floor beside it.
“She had a baby? Is it-?”
“The baby’s gone.”
When Detective Josie Quinn is called to a large house on the outskirts of the small town of Denton, she’s horrified by the viciousness of the attack - smashed glass, splintered furniture, and blood spattered across the floor. The owner, a single mother, is fighting for her life, and her newborn baby is missing.
A beautiful young woman caught fleeing the scene is Josie’s only lead, but when questioned it seems this mysterious girl doesn’t know who she is, where she’s from or why she’s so terrified....
Is she a witness, a suspect, or the next victim?
As Josie digs deeper, a letter found hidden in the house convinces her the attack, the missing child, and the nameless woman are linked to a spate of killings across the county, and Josie is faced with a heart-breaking decision....
Should she risk the life of one child to save many others? Or can she find another way to stop this killer before any more innocent lives are taken?
Nail-biting, twisty, and impossible to put down. If you love gripping thrillers from Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll be absolutely hooked!

"Anyone who knows me gets that I really like a strong, female, kickass main character and that’s exactly what I got in Josie Quinn.... The plot motors along at breakneck speed often leaving me holding my breath. I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next instalment." (Angela Marsons, best-selling author of Silent Scream)

A steady character development.
With this book the main characters are further developed and filled out. The underlying childishness of the main character, is still my biggest problem with the series, but there is a underlying quality to the story.

Very enjoyable, I hope this narrator reads the whole series. I’m going straight on to the next book.
There were many issues with the recording though.

Thoroughly enjoyable!
I was hooked from the start of the book. There are many twists and turns and a lot of characters involved to complete the story. I listened on Audible and the narration was very easy to follow. I look forward to reading the next book by this Author.

*Secrets and Lies*
This instalment sees Detective Josie Quinn dealing with Misty who is the woman that her deceased husband Ray not only cheated with but he also fell in love with.
Josie is called to the scene of a vicious attack and Misty is the victim. The scene is full of carnage and completely viscous why? Not only is she a victim but her newborn child is missing.
Josie decides despite the conflict of interest that she can handle the case, but can she? At the same time her fiancé Luke who was shot is making slow recovery, she soon discovers he is also missing.
One conflict is that the house belongs Luke and Josie spots a woman fleeing the scene and upon questioning her the woman cannot remember who or why she was there. Josie is not buying her reasoning for a minute.
Lots of things about this case stink and it seems powerful people at the top are using all they can to cover-up mistakes as they call it from getting into the public eye. Young people are disappearing and Josie despite opposition from the Major is not going to let anyone stand in her way.
We get a slight reference to Josie’s past but this continual defensive stance she has begs the question, what makes her the way she is? Secrets and lies tend to catch up with you….
