About this listen

Final novel in the chilling and epic new fantasy series from the bestselling and critically-acclaimed author of PRINCE OF THORNS and RED SISTER.

'If you like dark you will love Mark Lawrence. And when the light breaks through and it all makes sense, the contrast is gorgeous' ROBIN HOBB

The green world overwhelms all of Yaz’s expectations. Everything seems different but some things remain the same: her old enemies are still bent on her destruction.

The Corridor abounds with plenty and unsuspected danger. To stand a chance against the eyeless priest, Eular, and the god-like city-mind, Seus, Yaz will need to learn fast and make new friends.

The Convent of Sweet Mercy, like the Corridor itself, is packed with peril and opportunity. Yaz needs the nuns’ help – but first they want to execute her.

The fate of everyone squeezed between the Corridor’s vast walls, and ultimately the fate of those labouring to survive out on ice itself, hangs from the moon, and the battle to save the moon centres on the Ark of the Missing, buried beneath the emperor’s palace. Everyone wants Yaz to be the key that will open the Ark – the one the wise have sought for generations. But sometimes wanting isn’t enough.

THE GIRL AND THE MOON is the third and final volume in The Book of Ice trilogy.

Few trilogies build the story line as well as these. The world Mark Lawrence created In the “Sisters”trilogy was hard to leave behind. The “Girl” trilogy was far more complex but with such depth of
Characterisation. Superb.
Take a holiday Mr Lawrence, and then return to Abeth.

Thoroughly enjoyed this final episode. Great narration and great story, interesting how it brings in some aspects of the other series of books that refer to sweet mercy

A great finale

the story has so much to do in concluding a six part tale. it does it, but to some extent at the expense of the telling. don't get me wrong it's good. for me, the world of Abeth is somewhere that will always be with me. I can't thank Mr Lawrence enough. Hellen Duff is as she has been all the way through an excellent performer.

I thought this was a great finish to the trilogy - the wider universe is fantastic and I’m excited to see what comes next.

A satisfying end to the story of Yaz and her friends. Other reviewers are spot on in their praise, a trilogy worth spending your valuable time on.

Loved it. Third in the trilogy, with an action packed finale to Yaz's story, but also lots of satisfying tidbits for longtime readers of Mark Lawrence's universe. excellent narration, especially loved that Yaz has a scouse accent. 🤣

Lawrence understands how the best and the worst in human nature makes us the glorious, complex creatures that we are. Capable at once of great cruelty and cowardice yet at he same time, bravery compassion and creativity. There’s always a dark side. The question is only what we do with it.

Humanity laid bare

Wow this book not only details the closing of our journey with Yaz and her friends, but also see's many call backs to the time of Nona Grey. Not to spoil to much but those gates lead to more than just places.

A great ending for the Ancestor

Wow, what a brilliant and truly fabulous story. Mark Lawrence has delivered time and time again and with no exceptions The Girl And The Moon has brought the Book Of The Ice to an amazing conclusion and what an ending it was to. This book gave us a brilliant climax to the other two books as well as to The Ancestor series. Mark Lawrence is one of my all time favorite authors and every single book he has created, gives us great worlds to get lost in, even if there very cold and dark. There action packed and his poignant thoughts on human nature is affecting, he crafts scenes so well you can really visualize them and has so many winning elements, a thrilling adventure and twisted ending. Characters that you can love and hate and also one that is packed with emotion, camaraderie, sacrifice and a series that manages to be fantasy and science fiction mixed so wonderfully together. Our amazing protagonist Yaz must stop those who have proclaimed themselves as gods from entering the Ark and turning all of the World Abeth to ice. With the help of her friends and kicking ass nuns, can a girl from the ice save the world. Helen Duff does an amazing job with the narration. I very highly recommend that you check out Mr Lawrence books, for all fantasy fans, you are in for a treat....😁💙❄️⭐️🌟
