Summary

Diney Costeloe's wonderful new best seller is set in 19th-century France.

As the St Clair family prepare for the wedding of their daughter, Clarice, at the great country house of Montmichel, trouble is brewing. Their younger daughter, Helene, became friends with orphaned Annette during the terrible events of the 1871 siege of Paris.

Now they are reunited, with Annette working below stairs for Helene's parents. But Annette is hiding a dangerous secret, which Helene has promised to keep at all costs. Meanwhile, Helene herself has begun to fall in love with a young nobleman from England, whose family has plans which do not include their son choosing a French wife.

I don't know why but.............

I do not like this book.
I love Diney Costello's book's . I am halve french so it's not that, the only thing I can think of is that the accents are not very good for different people in
Paris. I do prefer English books
although I am not English, and
come from Jersey, Channel Islands but there are not many of them. Also I love books about orphan's and orhanages.
That is how I got into reading
Diney Costello. Maybe that's it,
this book is not about that.

A brilliant....

storyline from start to finish with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Another wonderful story by Diney Costeloe!

I really enjoyed listening to this story. It was very compelling and I found it hard to stop listening. The characters were really interesting and I hope there might be another book on the way to continue this story...?
