Summary
My life is a friggin’ fairytale - just not the kind any single girl would ever want to star in.
Laney
Like any good heroine, I have challenges to face. Getting my son to wear pants is one; dealing with my snooze-fest of a job is another. Then there’s the Beast, my freeloading brother who’s worn a permanent dent in the couch at my new place. And no fairytale would be complete without a smoking-hot prince, of course. Too bad he’s a complete ass.
My instincts scream at me to steer clear of Nate Murphy. Because, if life has taught me anything, there is no such thing as "happily ever after".
Nate
I may not be a superhero, but I do my best to come to the rescue when I’m needed. And, hey, I just moved halfway across the country after a single phone call from my mom. But being back home and taking on the responsibilities involved makes me a bit cranky at times. Unfortunately, the one time I completely lose my cool is in front of the hottest girl I’ve ever met. I’ve got my work cut out for me if I’m going to fix this. But I will fix this. I’ll be anything Laney Monroe needs me to be...a superhero, a prince, or just a guy she might take a chance on.

A tonic for the soul
Absolutely LOVED it! Side-splittingly funny and brilliantly narrated. The story comes alive within seconds and keeps you engrossed until the end. Finished in one sitting.

Fun as an audiobook
I had previously read this book electronically, but I liked it a lot better as an audiobook. It was a lot more fun.
The narration was great, but a few of the voices seemed like strange choices. It would also have been nice to have dual narration.
Overall, I'd recommend this series. The fix is a standalone with no cliffhanger and you could stop with this one, but you shouldn't.

worth a listen
I really enjoyed this audiobook, it took me a while to get used to the narrator as the female and male voice but the story line more than made up for it , I loved the strong single mum and the hot construction worker , a nice lighthearted listen that will have you laughing

just the description had me laughing
This is a laugh out loud kind of romcom. Laney's life is not a fairytale by any means. It could even be a nightmare to some. But Laney lives it with pride. I loved Laney. She is a strong woman who would do anything for her son, and even family. Laney is easy to relate to, her life is real, or at least could be. Nate is just as loyal to family and is the one who wants to fix everything. Until he lets Laney see him at his worst, first. Nate spends his time trying to fix that first impression. The banter between Mate and Laney is so fun. This is a light romance with a lot of laughs and so much fun. It is a great introduction to this series and I cannot wait to read the next one.
Alive Wander had a great performance. I loved how she narrated Laney. Alice really brought out the best, and worst of Laney and made her realistic. Alice has an easy to listen to voice. Her male character voice was smooth and natural. She was easy to follow and read at a great pace. I look forward to hearing more from Alice Wander.

Laney and Nate!
Laney’s plans for the future changed when she finds herself pregnant after enjoying a college party a little too much. Although her life isn’t what she pictured however she wouldn’t change a thing as it resulted in her five year old son Rocco who is the light of her life
After Nate’s father suffered a heart attack he finds himself back to his hometown earlier than he planned to manage the family construction business.
They don’t get off to the best start as not only is her brother working for him, but she wants information that he isn’t prepared to give about a site that he is renovating in her neighborhood and the sparks fly.
Nate and Laney are great characters but the great cast of secondary characters, including her son Rocco, really add to the story. Heat, humor and heart all combine into an entertaining story. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought that the narrator did a great job with the variety of voices that she had to portray.

A sweet and funny story...
Laney and Nate meet under not so conventional circumstances... Nate, having had a crappy start to the morning already, ending up taking it out on others, including Laney. He quickly made things up with her and a very sweet relation was born...
No angst, just feels... So a good listen if you need a pick me up!
Narration was good but I did struggle to keep up at times because some of the character voices blended into the same...
