About this listen

They think it’s all over.

London, 1966. The eve of the World Cup Final.

But the kings of London’s gangland have their minds elsewhere, on business—the business of assassination.

Another high-profile case forces maverick barrister Charles Holborne into the orbit of the Kray twins, the men who refuse to stay in his past and still have the power to destroy him. Will Ronnie Kray’s mental illness finally bring the Firm crashing down? And how are a disgraced Church of England priest, an ex-stripper, and a dead man connected? Charles Holborne must once again cross the most dangerous men in London in his quest for the truth.

The Final Shot is the seventh crime novel in an exciting historical series, the Charles Holborne Legal Thrillers—gritty, hard-boiled mysteries set in 1960s London.

Brilliantly written and narrated. Highly recommended, just a shame there’s only one more book to enjoy.

Terrific entertainment!

Besides being a great crime story and its thrilling court proceedings it is also a charming tourist guide to London.

Just Great

I have enjoyed this series of books enormously. Great setting , interesting and engaging characters. Being from the east end originally I recognise places and have heard stories from relatives about certain events which pop up in the books. I am glad that the Krays are portrayed as they should be as violent thugs and not folk heroes. I can’t wait to start the next book. The narrator is really good barring one character, Sally, sorry his “ Sally voice “ is a little annoying.

Fabulous series!

So it transpires that Charles Holborne is not only a skilled advocate but a lucky one as well! Don’t think Mr Michael could have chosen a better narrator!!

Yet another cracker from Simon Michael!!

All of the books so far have been addictive. In many ways, a fascinating tangible look back on the past. Writing and storytelling, exceptional.

Outstanding

This story is again so brilliantly told and read and the legal and thriller element so gripping. I vaguely remember the World Cup Final as a child and it brings back memories especially as we lived in Ruislip at the time. Just love these stories.

So evocative
