About this listen

"I was in free fall the moment we met, and I just keep falling."

Small-town police officer Silas Sloane knows every resident of O'Leary, New York. He's earned the love and respect of its citizens, though living under the small-town microscope grates on him. But though he's good at his job, there's one thing he's not good at: commitments...until Everett.

Widower Everett Maior, O'Leary's newest citizen, came to the small town kicking and screaming. He never wanted to become primary caretaker for his grandfather and has no interest in living the provincial life. Snarky and superstitious, he's proficient at keeping people at a distance...until he lays eyes on Silas.

Strange disappearances are plaguing O'Leary, though, even as Silas and Everett find their growing attraction undeniable. Can they find their way to a future together, even as ghosts from the past threaten to tear them apart?

There’s a lot in the way of Silas and Ev getting together. Each brick in the wall is gradually removed in a well-paced and believable story. I loved the community of O’Leary.

Lovely romance!

I enjoyed this story and the characters and the 3rd act plot twist was good. Superb narration

Great story

A beautifully warm story filled with guffawing humour, intrigue and suspense. It was well performed by the narrators. My favourite characters was the grandpa along with the, at times totally daft, main two leads - read it and see.

Not going to lie; it took me a while and many tries to get into the story since it takes forever to start. But after a few chapters have passed, the story becomes a fun beginning for a great series.
The characters are cute, funny, witty, and great together. Another thing that I love about this series is the townspeople. They are the best! It really makes you want to move and find a place that makes you feel at home.

My only issue with this book is the same issue I have with every book May Archer writes; she like her characters to be abused, mistreated, and wrong horribly and then... nothing. Literally nothing, there's never a great gesture of the abusive part or a moment to change their ways and ask for forgiveness and prove love fixes everything, the abused character ALWAYS brainwashes himself to forgive how shitty he's been treated, and HE is always the one who comes back to the abuser. Cringe.

interesting surprise

This book made me laugh and cry, it was a pleasure to listen to it.

A pleasure to read

I enjoyed this story about two guys finding love in a small town in New York State. There was a bit of a murder mystery thrown in, but it did feel like a shoe-in rather than an in-depth, investigative story. (The way the local police reacted to the fact people were missing in the woods was completely unrealistic.)

The one thing that did bug me was... why were two narrators used for this book when one would have sufficed?
I have no idea why two narrators read consecutive chapters because their voices and narration styles were so similar they merged into one and I couldn't discern which was supposed to be which character.

Nice story

First full length in the O' 'Leary series, a small town with some wonderful quirky people and all generations finding love. The MCs in this book ; a local policeman and an artist/ teacher reluctantly coming home to take care of his granddad, seem to be at two different points in their life, however they are what the other wants and need. Interwoven is a whodunnit, for a large part in the background. The men do find their hea with the whole town rooting for them.

The narration is lively and fitting it pushes the book forward even quicker than the writing style does. I will be heading to the second book shortly.

Lively narration a well written book

The book itself is great but the narrators are annoying. The constantly changing of the characters voices makes it hard to tell who is talking most of the time.

The narrators ruin the book
