Summary

It’s time to unplug with the Grammy-winning Punch Brothers, fronted by singer-mandolinist Chris Thile, as they bring you a multi-episode musical variety show with dazzling musical guests, like Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Jon Batiste, Norah Jones, James Taylor, and many more.

We join them in the near future when diminishing resources and extreme weather have ushered in a worldwide effort to ration electricity. America has instituted a weekly “energy curfew” where the power grid goes down completely and we all live electricity-free for 24 hours. The Energy Curfew Music Hour hits the airwaves an hour before the lights go out while the nation tunes in and turns off together before the Dark Day.

Recorded live in front of an audience, revel in the wild and wonderful joy unleashed in these one-night-only performances. Chris Thile and Punch Brothers help you wind down before you power down. Happy Dark Day, y’all.

Editorial Review

Music that fuels the soul
Sometimes it’s hard to let your hair down and enjoy the simple things in life. The Energy Curfew Music Hour gives you permission to do just that in this alternate reality where the power grid goes down weekly and we all live electricity-free for 24 hours. I was lucky enough to experience this variety show live, and the power of music and alluring vocals brought everyone in that room together. This audio version doesn’t disappoint! I relived the joy, coziness, and connection all over again. From captivating musical performances by Kacey Musgraves and my new fave, Madison Cunningham, to the heartfelt moments and genuine laughs with Punch Brothers, I was reminded that pure happiness comes from the power of connection. Go off the grid and experience this one—it’ll fill your heart with song and delight.— Caitlyn L., Audible Editor

A great blend of music, comedy, and chat.

Presented as a live radio show with a regular band, guest performers, comedy scetches, interviews, etc.

The "house" musicians are first class. fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass are all great and work very well together. the vocals are high quality too and the voices blend together beautifully.
the sound quality and mix is excellent.

The comedy sections are also great. charismatic, entertaining performances all round.

There is even a little music theory that is presented in an entertaining way (I promise its not boring!)

guests:
I was drawn to this as a Jason Isbell fan but I enjoyed ALL of the guest performances and have discovered a whole bunch of new artists from listening.

I have listened to the whole series 3 times and I'm not stopping yet!
its only just been released and I'm already eagerly awaiting new episodes.
