About this listen

Your wife is a liar.

Has your wife told you the truth yet?

Do you know who Claire really is?

Lenny has always known that his wife, Claire, is the love of his life. But somehow his marriage is in shambles, he’s struggling with the kids, and a string of anonymous text messages are tormenting him, insisting that Claire is a liar.

Claire knows Lenny is a good man, but there’s a lot she hasn’t told him about her past. Now she’s terrified that the horrors that haunt her are about to put her entire family in danger.

Strange new neighbours, insidious clients and schoolyard scandal begin to fracture Claire and Lenny’s happy families façade. As secrets are revealed and pasts uncovered, the lies will be exposed and everyone's lives will change forever.

A gripping suburban thriller from the bestselling author of Beneath the Shadows and The Hush.

"The fast-moving flow from placid family life to a deeply disturbing secret drives this suspenseful tale." Kirkus Reviews

great, trashy thriller with interesting characters

I actually really enjoyed this, and I didn't guess the plot before it happened. (I thought Lenny's band sounded a bit pants though.)

I enjoyed the narrators too.

Good story

it was a nice touch having two narrators, added to the story. it's also nice to hear stories countries other than the UK or USA.

Decent enough

The Deceit.

really enjoyed this little listen. Good amount of tension, plot twists and wondering who did what. Not too complex, no concentration needed, good little story

Entertaining enough

Decent story though a bit short so not worth spending a credit on - but entertaining if a bit predictable.

Reasonable short story

Liked having male and female narrators. Story moved quickly enough but somewhat incredulous. Still, kept me listening

Enjoyed this…..

Although the person narrating Clare’s part sounds like an Australian version of Mystic Meg. That thought made me giggle through the book which might make you laugh tooooooooo
