Summary

Meet Georgina Drake: professional photographer, novice gardener, and… amateur sleuth?

Georgina Drake’s job photographing beautiful Hartington Hall takes a dramatic turn when she enters the ancient ice house to find the lady of the manor dead on the floor. The second wife of the irascible owner of the hall, Karen Berry had plenty of enemies. Her death could have been an accident, but when Georgina hears how Karen had argued with her husband, alienated her two step-daughters, and fired the long-standing housekeeper for theft, she’s not convinced…

As the police, led by attractive DI Colin Bradshaw, round up the household for interviews, Georgina takes her suspicions and her boisterous spaniel Bertie for a walk through the grounds. And is horrified when he digs up a human skeleton. Georgina is once again in the middle of a baffling mystery. What dark secret at Hartington connects the two crimes and can Georgina unmask the killer before they strike again…?

A totally delightful cozy crime novel set in charming Norfolk. Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie, Faith Martin and Midsomer Murders!

The Body in the Ice House!

This was a solid story, with an interesting premise. The characters are very likable and the overall concept was very enjoyable. Tamsin Kennard’s performance as the narrator is fantastic, she again is engaging and a joy to listen to. I like Kate Hardy’s writing, I have noticed a theme, which is very refreshing, she hasn’t fallen into a certain trope that really gets on my nerves. However, in saying that, I hope she continues not to become too reliant on that ‘element’ I don’t want to say as I don’t want to spoil the final act, but if you have listened to enough murder mystery stories you too will understand a regular theme that too many writers use. I hope Kate continues to be original with her final acts and mixes it up to keep it refreshing.

Another winner

I love Doris! I really like the clever storylines and the characters, which are unraveling and developing depth as the series progresses. The references to Shakespeare give this another unique quality and add depth. Just moving on the third book now.

Second Book of the Series

Enjoyed this listen even more than the first. Loved the addition of a second ghost. Characters are so believable and I can’t wait to download the third book of the series.

Let down by this one after the first book was so good!

Let down by this book number 2 after book 1 was so good. Just was missing something. It was so slow and needed something to wake the story up a little. So disappointed as the first book was so good. Got book 3 in my library but put off a little bit starting that now because of this one. Not a lot happened in this title and the ending was all cramped up by who done it. The narrator was still good but overall can only give it 3 stars overall. Dont know what all the brilliant reviews of this title were about.
