When PI Rollo Michaels does a few “favors” for a gangster friend of his late father, he becomes entangled in the strings of Mafia puppeteer “Big Vinnie” Costello. While on a New York family vacation with his daughter, son, and fiancée, Rollo comes under the scrutiny of the FBI. His subsequent beatdown and arrest for assaulting an FBI agent is witnessed by his children, drawing the unrelenting wrath of his ex-wife, and yet another wedding postponement by his fiancée.

Hoping to stave off further federal entanglements, the partners of Michaels & Associates urge Rollo to cut his ties to Don Vincenzo Costello before chaos reigns from coast-to-coast. But more requests for favors draw Rollo deeper in. A mafia hit team races a multijurisdictional taskforce to locate a serial killer headed to LA, while the Russian mafia attempts to assassinate Big Vinnie. Will the resulting maelstrom suck Rollo down?

This is a very good listen, it is well written and fast paced from start to finish. Rollo Michaels is a very likeable character and you can't help rooting for him as he gets involved in many scrapes whilst trying to help his uncle Vinny. Add Randy McCarten's narration which is excellent and you've got a really good few hours entertainment. I am looking forward to listening to book 2 which I have on my card already awaiting my attention. ☺

Loved the narration of Randy McCarten, who brings out the humour, action, angst , characters and brilliant plot. Perfect for this book.

Doing favours for the mafia, even if they are friends for your late is not a good idea. PI Rollo Michaels finds himself under the scrutiny of the FBI, and ex wife also not happy with him. So when his children see him hit an FBI agent, and his fiancée delaying their wedding. This book had action, humour and excellent characters.
