About this listen
After three years deep under cover, US agent Harry Latham has penetrated the fortress-like mountain hideaway of the Brotherhood of the Watch, a neo-Nazi organisation born after the fall of the Third Reich. Then, on the eve of his most spectacular success, Harry disappears.
Drew Latham is frantic to discover his older brother's fate. But when he receives word that Harry has surfaced, serious doubts arise. Has Harry's cover been blown? And if so, why has the Brotherhood of the Watch let him live? The search for the truth about Harry plunges Drew into a labyrinth of deceit and death...

Not sure why it was over 26 hours, was sometimes hard to follow and some of the characters seemed insignificant. Not happy with endingWhat could Robert Ludlum have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
too much build up and the big climax seemed wastedWhat aspect of Michael Prichard’s performance might you have changed?

This time though the monotone narrative took away much of the story. I actually diverted to other books in between listening to this.
It felt like the narrative was a drag and the multiple conversations in the book was rapidly read out in the same monotone style, sometimes you actually didn't grasp who said what.
As a story it is a typical Ludlum brick of a book with slow building characters and a long elaborate intrigue. Not his finest work

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The narrator really should have been coached in to moderating his tone and use of language, for me the story seemed to be delivered in a complete monotone. What could Robert Ludlum have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I remember reading Ludnum at school, remember The Bourne Identity? A brilliant story, turned into a great movie with a good follow-up but this? Yet another "Secret Nazi organisation tries to take over the world" tale. The language is so, so dated and the plot lines are predictable, telegraphed and totally sterotypical of a very old spy-novel writer. How could the performance have been better?
Rewrite the book using modern language and pump 40,000 volts through the narrator! You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It's one redeeming quality was that it got so bad that I never actually got to the end, I think I had about 11 hours left to suffer!Oh Dear, this has not aged well!
