This was a really exciting and interesting book, especially with the notes at the end about the history and ideas. The narration was just amazing!

It almost feels like a children book. Especially give the narration. It's a book to listen to quickly. Nicely read.

This is the story of an orphaned Scots girl who finds herself in India at the time of the First War of Independence, together with a young French acrobat and a young Indian page turner, she runs away from her aunt and uncle to find her baby brother. They have several adventures, reaching the jungle, dealing with deserters, passing through destroyed villages, meeting the Rani of Jhansi, and eventually joining the circus. The story is pacy, with just the right amount of peril, and is hugely enjoyable. It is also a good introduction to the history of the time.

An exciting adventure story about 3 friends, with fascinating insight into the Indian rebellion in the time of the British Empire. Well worth a listen for a great story about friendship and bravery, and to learn about an important time in history.
