Terrifying and addictive
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Would only recommend to a brave friend living far away from the Scottish highlands who is never alone in the woods or hills.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stay Alive?
So many frying pan to fire moments for people that I genuinely cared about.
What about Paul Thornley’s performance did you like?
Great delivery of a tight story drawing the reader into the jeopardy of the vulnerable characters.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Even the highlands aren't safe!
Any additional comments?
The only book my girlfriend has listened in one sitting as she was to scared for casey and jess to stop.

Good, but not so good as previous ones.
I really enjoy Simon Kernick's books, and like the Scope character a lot.
This was a good yarn as usual, but there were a couple too many plot turns requiring me to suspend disbelief for me to rate it 5 stars.

Not the best plot line
Some tedious and extended passages of repetitious chases of the goodies by the baddies spoil this thriller. DCS Boult a good part but where was Tina Boyd??

Not fantastic.
Not the best thriller. The narrator is OK, but he speaks with the same rhythm and inflections in every sentence which gets a bit dull. The story is fairly ordinary and the last half an hour or so has an explanation of how and why shoe-horned into it. Overall it is a fairly average storyline read by a fairly ungifted narrator

Simon Kerning Fan
Enjoyable enough and breaks from the normal Simon Kerning plots a bit. If you are a fan of them you'll enjoy it. If you've not read his stuff before try severed or rentless first they are superior books.

Excellent storyline.
Kept me spellbound. The narrator brought the story alive. Every time I had to pause I could not wait to get back to continuing listening to an excellent story.

Overly frenetic thriller
I enjoyed the author's book Last Ten Seconds so knew his style would probably be a pacy thriller that takes the listener on a roller-coaster experience. However after a gripping start and intriguing early chapters the present story descends into just too many situations of jeopardy, bodies piling up and lonely parts of the Highlands of Scotland apparently inhabited by Russian gangsters, paedophiles, corrupt policemen, hit men and gun-totting grannies. There's little in the way of character-development and no respite from action. I think the story needed a few quiet interludes to slacken the relentless pace. It's all a bit too macho for my taste, though the narrator does a great job and must have been exhausted by the end!
