About this listen

With his laughing eyes and wild, rakish good looks, Lord Rannulf Bedwyn is a hard man to resist. To Judith Law, a woman in need of rescue when her stagecoach overturns, Rannulf is simply her savior, a heroic stranger she will reward with one night of reckless passion before she must become a companion to her wealthy aunt. Imagine Judith's shock when the same stranger turns out to be among England's most eligible bachelors, and when he arrives at Harewood Grange to woo her cousin. Certainly, they had made no vows, no promises, but Rannulf never did forget his uninhibited lover - nor did she forget that one delicious night. And as scandal sets the household abuzz, Rannulf proposes a solution. But when Judith refuses to have him - in love or wedlock - Rannulf has only one choice: to wage a campaign of pure pleasure to capture the heart of the woman who has already won his.

Critic reviews

"The Bedwyn siblings are the most fascinating romance protagonists to come along since Jude Devereaux's Montgomery brothers in the 1980s, and Balogh's sensuous Regency-era romances set the standard. They are not to be missed." ( Booklist)

A wonderful narration of this novel - would recommend! The story keeps you griped all the way through not knowing how the story will evolve.

A bit more than wicked

I’d said in my first review (Slightly Married), that I thought in Ms Balogh I had found a combination of Georgette Heyer and Stella Riley. I was correct. I can easily envisage these characters in any of the previous authors stories and social circles, but it seems as if these characters are more likely to be only loosely located in London and thus expanding the Regency world even more so for me.

It’s nice to know that they’re not too high in the instep! A really enjoyable tale. Onto book 3!

Yes. I’ve found my newest favourite Regency Author.

I am so pleased I have come across this author. I have enjoyed many of Julia Quinn's books and really love Rosalind Landor's narration. I have tried a few similar authors but was begining to loose hope. I am so thankfull I found this series. so far, out of the first 3, this is my favourite. Great characters and storyline. I highly recommend.

brilliant story and narration

I certainly feel that these books have no ked off to a good start. Like the first the story does not fail to entertain and the family dynamics have remained consistent.

A real treat

I remember reading this years ago and not particularly liking it. However, Rosalyn Landor really brought this story alive.
Two imperfect lost characters, not particularly likeable at first. As the story progresses it’s lovely to see them change and their love story is endearing. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

An unexpected treat

Ran null is 28, so why has the narrator voiced him as though he were a 60+ pervert? The Rannulf voice is really sleazy, creepy and OLD!!
He is supposed to be a 'Jack the lad', young, vibrant but is voiced like a dirty old man. The rest of the narration is dodgy too - it's put me off the other Mary Balogh books narrated by this narrator! AVOID!!!
A really disappointing experience.

Dreadful narration of a lovely book!
