Better than you expect worse than you hoped

Epic long story but probably repeated itself to the tune of 25hours.

The skill gain of the main characters is difficult to follow, slow and underwhelming.

The quests within quest scenario makes you want to skip it to the best bits and is frustrating.

Love the treasure finds, airship travel, floating islands, the alliance bonus with individuals and factions, and the development of Hall's village.

Just wish he'd got that returning spear he had pre glitch.

It drove me mad that the original Grove custodian was so often alluded to.....he was a nobody in the story aaaagggghjjjjj

But thank you for giving us a box set of 6 for 1 CREDIT

Not enough story

Not enough story as it seems half the book is taken up with combat scenes. The combat scenes are also very repetitive. How many times do I need to hear him stabbing someone with a sword.
Also quite often repeats other things to many time. I like the story but had to skip the combat scenes.

Good story well told

I enjoyed this tale with a nice angle to the LitRPG trope.
And its always nice to have a complete story with a satisfying conclusion

an engaging and evolving story.

what started off as a fairly typical LitRPG story evolved and changed several times throughout the telling of the story.
The characters were likeable and relatable, the villains were also relatable, a wonderfully terrible thing in my experience, healthy doses of modern themes with a fantasy backdrop.

wonderfully narrated, with each character having a unique voice.

sad to have it come to an end.

A MASSIVE listen for just 1 credit

A great series of books with enjoyable characters and quests. Sometimes it’s a little repetitive (especially multi-kill xp rewards) but overall well worth a listen and really well narrated with clearly distinguishable characters.
Would definitely listen to more.
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

An enjoyable listen.

Before I get unti it, I just want to say thank you for the story, it's helped keep me distracted during a difficult time for me.

How to start where dues this story fail;

To start there where a few story threads just dropped, not unexpected in a 80h+ story but sometime it felt more of the author had forgotten about it, they sometime for 'fixed later with throwaway comments but some felt like there where ment to be a little more important.

On that note there was occasional mistakes most notable where where the author had forgotten somthing that had been or not been done or said. These where mostly unimportant but was a little said to hear.

and the last main point I have is that you can tell that this was originally ment to be seen with the amount of notifications and stats getting repeated, somthing that when reading is easy to skim but can be a little tedious when listening.

Now for the not bad but frustrating;
The author seems to be an American who has lived most of there life in the city, why you ask, because they refer to a bull as a male cow. This is somethings that is more frustrating thing for most as it comes across as if the author is uneducated which from what I can tell from the rest of the story is unlikely to be the case. It's a bit like how the Australia have a few house close together in what everyone else would call a village but to them is a town. Wired, confusing but it's what it is.

The notifications could have been condensed with things like "(The notification message) times two" and would have been less repetitive, but it is a common issue with litrpgs so I was expecting it.

Now the good:

This was a very interesting take on the normal approach to the 'sent to another world' or 'trapped in a game' style story, with element I've not seen (or heard) done before.

The characters where well done (although sometime there where moment where they felt a little forced for the plot) with interesting development and growth.

There are interesting romances within the story they don't feel over played, forced or just unrealistic. There was no harem (not that I mind either way) so for people who don't like that in these kind of stories don't worry.

A good balance for action, story telling, world building and conversations (even if they seem to repeat themselves once or twice).

the story was engaging and I would be intrigued by a follow up or spin off from this world.

So inconclusive, is it worth getting? I would say very much so if your into litrpg, if nothing else it's 80h+ of an interesting world to discover at a reasonable price.
