It's well narrated and well paced. There's just enough personal information to get to know the man but the focus of this book is the artists he has worked with and the business side of L.A's life. He doesn't blow his own trumpet. His faults are admitted and analysed. Which makes you warm to him, something I wasn't necessarily expecting having seen him on TV (when you hear the interesting chapters on The X Factor, you understand that he didn't like himself much on that either!) A really enjoyable listen.

What an inspiring journey. I loved every second of this book. I listened to all of the songs mentioned with a deeper understanding of the artist and the song. LA Reid’s drive and determination is something we should all possess. It really shows what believing in yourself, having ambition, following your passion, and just being a good person can do in life. Takes you to the highest of heights.

It provides a great insight, through LA Reid's life, into key aspects of the music industry such as identifying and managing talent and the subtle differences between running large labels and small labels and labels with strong identities.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sing to Me?

LA becoming the president of Def Jam which had a strong rap identity and which raised problems of authenticity because LA was not a "rap guy" and the artists and other staff were not buying into him running the label - which was resolved by bringing in Jay-Z to manage the label (which was a tight negotiation) who was well respected.

What does Dion Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He has a great voice and enunciation was brilliant - wasn't annoying like some narrators can be.
