About this listen

Silver in the Wood

There is a wild man who lives in the deep quiet of Greenhollow, and he listens to the wood. Tobias, tethered to the forest, does not dwell on his past life, but he lives a perfectly unremarkable existence with his cottage, his cat, and his dryads.

When Greenhollow Hall acquires a handsome, intensely curious new owner in Henry Silver, everything changes. Old secrets better left buried are dug up, and Tobias is forced to reckon with his troubled past - both the green magic of the woods and the dark things that rest in its heart.

Drowned Country

Even the wild man of Greenhollow can't ignore a summons from his mother when that mother is the indomitable Adela Silver, practical folklorist. Henry Silver does not relish what he'll find in the grimy seaside town of Rothport, where once the ancient wood extended before it was drowned beneath the sea - a missing girl, a monster on the loose, or, worst of all, Tobias Finch, who loves him.

Surprisingly enjoyable

A light meander through 10,000 years of a wood and a few people who love saves. It’ll have me thinking for a while about temptation, duty, and the choices that lead to a twisted path or being whole.

Amazingly performed and a beautifully written story

I adored both these stories though if I had to pick one, the first was my favourite. The writing style is stunning and really creates this amazing world of magic and strange creatures. I loved spending time in this world with the narrator who made each character stand out beautifully.
Need to get myself a physical copy!!

Stunning. Best thing I've read all year

What a gorgeous rendition of a beautiful story. It's so tender and speaks to something I hold dear having grown up in the English countryside exploring ancient woodland.
Beautiful narration and truly touching.

Beautifully narrated

Wonderfully indulgent, every word pulling you into the ‘woods’ immersing yourself in dark moist rotting wonder!!!

Great, unusual stories

I thought these stories were really well told, the author has a great imagination. The narrator was perfect, I wish he could read all the audio books!

down a rabbit hole in the woods

I so enjoyed being drawn into the magic of these two related folk tales which I found fascinating. Well done, Emily Tesh for bringing to life such an array of remarkably believable characters in a setting that made me want to go out into the woods and be enchanted all over again. My only problem was with the narrator who was spot on except that his voice dropped at the ends of sentences which sometimes made it difficult to hear. A wonderful find overall.

Beautifully magical

These two books had me captivated from the beginning and I didn’t want the story to end. Told beautifully, there is tenderness, love and mystery and the world created is rich and full.
I wasn’t sure what to expect given that these were classed as fantasy boos, but the fantastical elements blend so seamlessly with the ‘normal’ world that everything is believable.
I absolutely loved these books and will definitely be listening to them again.
