Summary

From the queen of feelgood fiction, an uplifting new novel of friendship, families and finding love....

Amber, Lachlan and Raffaele met as teenagers in the Cornish seaside home of kind-hearted foster parents. Years on, the bond between them is unbreakable

But Amber has a secret. She's in love with Lachlan. She can't tell him, because that would never work—he's definitely not the settling-down type. Surely it's better to keep him as a friend than to risk losing him for good?

Raffaele has his own dilemma. He had the dream girlfriend in Vee, until it all went horribly wrong...and he still can't understand why. Is Vee hiding something from him?

Now their widowed foster dad Teddy has found new love. Younger, charming and beautiful, Olga seems perfect. But is she? Or will she break Teddy's fragile heart?

Against a backdrop of sparkling seas and sunny skies, the unexpected is always just around the corner. Welcome to Lanrock!

Gloriously romantic and completely life-affirming, Jill Mansell's wonderful new novel set in sunny Cornwall will make you believe in love again.

Bad editing by otherwise a great story

Jill Mansell in her usual great form, and thoroughly enjoyed the story as much as expected. Sadly a glitch with chapter 35 appearing instead of 25 gave away part of the plot early and was a bit confusing. Was otherwise well read and fortunately I had bought the audible book as an add on to the kindle book, so was able to read chapter 25.

Wonderful as always

I've loved everyone of Jill Mansell's books, and this was just as brilliant as the others have been. Wonderful characters and a lovely, happy story.
Fabulous narration by Katherine Press.

I'd had this on pre-order, so it downloaded as soon as it was released, however I had been finishing another audio book and didn't listen to it before reviews started about the editing error. By selecting 'Remove from Device' and then downloading again, I was able to access the corrected version, not the faulty. So I would recommend this for anyone else who has the same problem.

Fabulous

From the ruins of their childhoods comes an amazing story of how children out in to a foster home with two extraordinary people acting as borrowed parents changed the lives of three different young people by guiding them into lives they could never imagine.

lovely

Lovely as always. Keep an eye out for the later half of chapter 24 as it's chapter 35, if you're not paying attention you'll both get spoilers and feel like you're going mad.

4 stars due to bad editing.

A Sweet Low Stakes Story About Found Family.

This is the second book in succession I have reviewed that involves foster siblings, and the two books could not be more different. You can read this one before bed for a start. An illustration of one of the reasons I love reading so much. Two different novels with a similar plot point can end up in such different places.

Lachlen, Amber, and Rafael met when they were all being fostered by Teddy and May on the Cornish coast. Years later, and still very close, they ail find themselves back in Lanrock. After Lachlen has persuaded Teddy to go on cruise to help with the grieving process after recently losing May to cancer. The thing is, on this cruise, Teddy meets a much younger Russian beauty. Back home the three are worried her intentions might not be all that honourable.

During the course of the story, we learn that the kids have problems of their own, and there is also an interesting subplot involving a retired entrepreneur and her son.

Basically, this is a hug of a book and a lesson in love conquering all. I heartily recommend.

Just the job

A nice gentle story to listen to, as I've come to expect from Jill Mansel and her loveable characters. I didn't like the reader this time though, her delivery was very stop, start in the middle of each sentence which very much spoilt the rhythm of the story.
