About this listen

Every time a shot rings out, a Valkyrie earns her wings. Mila is earning hers the hard way hunting down the monsters that have taken her sister.

It was supposed to be a simple scouting mission. But the trail is leading her to an unexpected discovery. What if the things that go bump in the night start to slither out into the light?

An ancient horror, full of malice and nightmares, is coming to the Idaho Wilderness. She should probably run, but Valkyries don't back down from a fight, no matter the risk.

Besides, there are lives at stake, and it’s a Valkyrie's job to choose the dead. The Dwarf King would be proud.

This book looks interesting, and while it was a bit slow starting, it started to pick up about an hour into it. What spoiled it for me was the excessive and casual use of expletives. I can usually tolerate some of this, but I found that by half-way through I was cringeing at each (frequent) reoccurrence. I know that for some people this may be little worse than common-place, but for me who has grown up in gentler and more respectful times, it grates badly. I'm returning it unfinished.

Story looks interesting, but...

Having previously read and listened to the Finnegan Dragonbender stories, I was glad Finn, Mila and Penny's adventures carried on with Mila's story.

The book is full of action and laughs.

Finn is off to find Penny's hoarde as she's ready to lay her eggs. Mila and Danica go to find out why there's trouble in a town inhabited by magicals.

The narration was great - I'm glad Austin Rising is narrating this series too as it would've been strange having another narrator telling the stories.

Loved it!
