Summary

In 1859, the Shawtuck Lunatic Asylum opened in rural Delaware County as the new standard for the treatment of the mentally ill. But now this huge, Gothic structure sits brooding and abandoned, brought down by a long, sordid history of depravity, mistreatment, and murder. It may be rotting up on Shawtuck Mountain, but it's not alone.

Oswald "Oz" Patterson is the new sheriff of Delaware County. After a near-death experience as a cop in the South Bronx, he decided to move away from the inner city and live a safer life. But Oz will find that he has only traded one nightmare for an even worse one.

Perfect for the Spooky Season

Thank you Skyler and Richard for my complementary copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such an intriguing story! I absolutely loved all the historical facts throughout, the creepiness and atmospheric feel 😍 I really like Oz's character too 🥰

It was disturbing and at times made my stomach turn 😅 What people went through in these types of institutes was horrendous 🥺

It was a really enjoyable creepy read perfect for the spooky season 🙌

Skyler's narration as usual was brilliant and creepy at times which fits this story perfectly 😂

Very good book

Really enjoyed this book. It all seemed very real and extremely well written. The narration was absolutely spot on. The only negative is that it wasn’t long enough.

Classic

This is a brilliant listen if a little disturbing at times. The story is about as it's name suggests an asylum that has closed down but it is still haunted by ghosts of the past. A real spooky story enhanced by Skyler Morgan's superb narration. A great 5 star read.

Well this was different

at first I wasn't sure what to make of this but decided to keep going. it turned out to be really fascinating and creepy. the ending was really chilling as it all brought it back to reality.

the narration really suits the story and definitely both the author and narrator are ones to look out for.

I have given this 4 5 rounded up

A bit like a documentary

I found this very much like a documentary until part way through. Storyline was good once it got going.
