I just finished this audiobook and I am still enthralled by this sapphic, dark academic Medusa re-telling. The narrators did an awesome job with this author’s beautiful words. This standalone deals with some intense subject matters such as violent assaults and the aftermath, sexual awakening and finding one’s true self. I was engrossed by Lex and Luna. Lex was so angry, justifiably so, and wanted revenge at any cost. Luna becomes collateral damage but emerges triumphantly and finds what she never knew she needed. I highly recommend this intense audiobook.

My first book by this author and definitely not the last.
I love her writing and enjoyed every bit of this book.

The narrators outdid themselves. Rose Dioro and Quinn Riley are perfect for these MCs and did a great performance.

Lex and Luna - you just have to love them.
A lot happened to Lex, but she gets back up like Phoenix and is seeking revenge.
But she doesn't expect to fall for Luna and has an instant attraction.

And it's getting h0t.

Serpentine Valentine by Giana Darling is a sapphic dark academia Medusa retelling that I listened to on audio narrated by Rose Dioro and Quinn Riley.

This is the first book of Giana's that I have read, and it definitely won't be last. I don't want to give any spoilers away. So, I will just say that I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Lex and Luna. Their relationship was messy, but they brought the best out of each other. I loved getting both of their points of views throughout this book. It really brought the story to life.

Rose and Quinn did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a sapphic romance, modern day retelling, dark romance, or romantic suspense.

Whenever I see an upcoming release pop up for Giana Darling, mark my words, I sign up as fast as humanly possible! I don’t even need to read the blurb, I automatically know it’s going to be a good read and as predicted, this new book was PHENOMENAL!

I’m not sure where to begin. I’m not sure what I was expecting going into this. Truth be told, I’ve only read a small handful of books with sapphic romance in them and I really liked them, I just haven’t found many authors that I read that write them. I was surprised when I read Giana was going to write one and excited and I was completely blown away. It was extremely well written. Her writing has a way of gripping you in taking you on a roller coaster of emotions and so many twists and turns that it will have your mind reeling!

Lex went through so much and has spent her entire life fighting for herself and how she gets out the other side of it shows how much strength she has inside of her. It was such a beautiful thing to read. However, she is out for revenge and she will stop at nothing to get it!

Luna is the popular one with loads of friends, she’s bubbly, joyful, happy and loved by many, she’s the field hockey captain and overall a good person. But unfortunately, she finds herself a pawn in Lex’s plan of revenge.


Luna is like nothing Lex has ever known. She brings the light to her darkness. She has a way of calming the storm in Lex’s mind and soul and helps her control her rage in healthier ways. The connection between these two is something special and as they explore each other and get to know each other, their bond only gets stronger and more intense.

This book had me up in all my feels and this has to be my favourite book by Giana Darling to date and probably the most emotional, incredibly well written and heartbreakingly beautiful story I have read in a very long time. Giana has raised the bar with this one!

What an amazing, emotional,harrowing story. I was hooked, it is an eye opener. 👀
Abuse and depression of women is sadly a reality! From a single comment or look to the more deviant behaviour. This story explores it all and revenge is on the cards. A coiled snake who strikes back at the men who do bad things to women! 🐍
Excellent narration. A pure joy to listen to.🎶

Serpentine Valentine by Giana Darling is a sapphic dark academia romance about college student, Lex, who was drugged, raped, brutalized, and dumped in the woods by a professor that she trusted. Instead of holding him responsible for his crime, the President of the college, who had also been a trusted mentor, accused her of lying. She was placed on Academic Suspension from school, and her name and reputation were dragged through the mud in the court of public opinion and gossip around campus. She was labeled promiscuous and was socially ostracized by her fellow students. Lex fought to return to school, burning with the need for vengeance for herself and other young women who had been assaulted. She formed a vigilante group who punished men who had assaulted women on campus, and had a plan to bring down the professor who raped her and the President who had covered it up by taking everything from her. She started with the President’s daughter, Luna. Luna had always believed herself to be straight before meeting Lex. She thought that Lex had been a victim and the gossip about her was unfair, and was thoroughly seduced by Lex. Would Lex choose love and acceptance or hate and revenge? This audiobook was very good. The narrator did an excellent job either the book, and I was drawn into the story from the very beginning. The story that was told was a familiar one to me, having experienced similar incidents where victims weren’t believed when I was a college student as well as and in high profile rape allegations over the years. This was a dark romance with main characters who were relatable and multidimensional. The emotion that the story evoked was palpable. I could feel Lex’s rage and her despair. The book has a number of triggers for sexual and physical assault, which happens on and off the page. It could be very educational for those who do not understand the prevalence and impact that sexual assault can have. Hopefully this story will discourage the impulse not to believe a victim or to blame the victim for what she/he experienced. In the end this contemporary romance, a retelling of the Greek tragedy Medusa, gave a message of hope and healing. I definitely recommend this audiobook. I am voluntarily writing this honest review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook thanks to Valentine PR and Audible Audio.

Some parts of this story are beautifully written other parts I was slightly disappointed with but overall I enjoyed the sapphic retelling of Medusa

As soon as I finished Serpentine Valentine I pressed play to listen to it again! I can count on one hand the number of books that have affected me in such a visceral way. Electric and intuitive I loved the main characters and their discovery of each other and the through line of women supporting women and the importance of trust, love, and solidarity.

I had to pause several times to let the depth of the writing sink in. So detailed and descriptive, allowing for so much imagery in my mind. 🖤🖤

I am familiar with the excellent narration of Quinn Riley and Rose Dioro, emotional range, power, and nuance are their strengths. This is my first Giana Darling book and my first time reading Dark Academia - what an introduction! Can't wait to discover more of Giana's work. Serpentine Valentine is a must-read! Thank me later! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I thoroughly enjoyed this sapphic, revenge, medusa retelling and I wasn’t expecting to feel so many emotions. I couldn’t stop listening to this book and I’m obsessed!

This book is much more than just the romance. It’s beautiful written and it shows the reality of the before, during, and aftermath of SA. This book shows the slow journey of healing and taking back power to ultimately get to the HEA.

The narrators Rose Dioro and Quinn Riley were perfection in this audiobook!

I really enjoyed this! Touched on some sensitive subjects but I think it did this very well. I enjoyed the audiobook, I think it was performed well. I read along with some parts on Kindle.
