hardest clive barker book so far
defiantly struggled to finish this 1,clive barker being my favourite novalist for over 20 years was a bit of the normal story line for him compared to what ive read before not bad at all just different

Enjoyable Book in Places
Barker does a good job at telling a moving and philosophical horror type story. not one of his best, though.
The story is somewhat slow and is tedious in the middle and towards the end, unlike Barker.
Characters were well written and in gaging.
Narrated done well, although his attempts at a female voice characters were cringeing at times and laughable, especially the American ones.

Beautifully Written Dark Fantasy
While certainly not up there with Clive Barker's best work ( Weaveworld & Imajica), Sacrament is definitely worth a listen. It's beautifully written with some great characters.
I really enjoyed Chris MacDonnell's narration. His Southern American accent was slightly off for one of the characters, but the other characterisations were spot on. It was a pleasure to listen to.
Another quality presentation from Crossroad Press.
Highly recommended.

Beautiful
This is maybe Barker’s most personal and emotional novel that I’ve found so far. I loved it as much as his best. The narrator does a decent job, but I would have appreciated stronger accents for some characters.

Not typical, but consistently amazing Barker
As I said in the title, this is nit a very typical Barker story, but it is superb.
What you will get is a story that is (I am willing to bet) the most personal story he ever written. A lot of what he writes seems to be a reflection of his own experience, told in a way that really prove his mastery of language and story-telling.
Just don't expect horror.

Compelling once you get over the initial chapters
I struggled to get past the first few chapters, but after several attempts, I made concerted effort to finish it, and I'm glad I did. It is a very depressing story and I would have liked more uplifting moments but that's the thing with Clive Barker... you never know if he'll fill your dreams with angels or demons.

eloquent and surprising
twists and turns up and down, murder and mayhem a startling good book. Am a broker fan any way but this 2nd even 3rd time round still surprised me with is beauty

Could be a good story, I have no idea.
I couldn't bear the narrator, and basically checked out after a few chapters. This could be a great book, but the narrator had such a flat tone and lack of emotion that he may as well have been reading through the yellow pages.

Narrator is a good sleep aid
So, as the title of my review indicates, the narrator is sleep inducing, but regardless of that fact, this story is miserable so he is a good choice for such a depressing tale.
The story starts with misery and ends in misery which is now what I wish on the author, I bought the hardcover of this abomination when it was first released. I threw it in the dustbin after a few chapters, and what puzzles me most is what on earth posessed me to buy this audio version but buy it I did (for whatever reason) and I got no further with this version than I did with the print version although I am happy to say I did not have to throw this copy into the bin.
This is a nasty tale of nasty people and I do not recommend it to anybody. I was previously a Clive Barker fan before this book.
