About this listen
With the System States Union now crushed and Trojan's new Empire on the rise, former foes become allies in a desperate attempt to prevent not only the collapse of human civilization but also the complete extermination of humanity at the hands of a diabolical new power player. Is salvation really possible, or was it all just rumors?
Rumors of Salvation contains strategic and tactical space battles as part of the grand vista of an interstellar war from the point of view of both high-level strategy and up-close-and-personal fighting.

Beautiful action as space battles, twists and unknowns.
As usual Jeffrey Kafer narration is beautifully done for each of the characters.

As others have noted, this book seems to have a really rushed ending which leaves the impression there was meant to be more to the series.
It’s hard to ignore that the series as a whole is plagued with numerous plot holes, some of which are filled by deus ex machina usually in the form of coincidence or a convenient tech discovery out of the blue, but some are still left hanging. I’ve put a few at the end of this review under a spoiler tag.
HOWEVER… I did listen to all three books back to back and I would probably listen to more from the author. This series is nearly ten years old now and hopefully the rough edges have been smoothed off in his later works. The underlying premise is good, and who doesn’t like a nice chunky space opera series?
**SPOILERS**
I found it hard to reconcile how the all powerful enemy computer seems to go from omnipotence to making stupid mistakes seemingly at random. Or how the implant chip resisted even the thought of removing it, but was completely fooled by a very obvious deception allowing the final victory.
The big one for me though was that the implant chip compelling people to act was ‘just’ a pain inducer. Characters instantly went completely against their fundamental nature rather than taking any kind of stand EG by attempting suicide. Staunch defenders of Earth enabled a bioweapon attack that would kill them too, the desperate rebels who made any sacrifice for the cause suddenly give up all the secrets. Not very convincing.
Great Premise, shakily executed
