Summary

This is a story about people: their courage, their hopes, their loves, and of course, their faults and their lies.

They are a mixed bunch.

You will love some of them and you will hate some of them, but they will all entertain you.

The stage is set and the curtain is about to go up, so settle back and enjoy the show.

Writer's Review

This is not a standard review; it is meant for those of you who are considering writing and producing their own audio book. If you are fickle and easily put off don’t try it, because it’s hard work. I am the writer, director and producer of this audio book. The story was developed from a radio play I had written. The play has been aired on several local radio stations. It was all dialogue so required some re-writing to make it suitable. Finding an appropriate recording studio wasn’t easy. Most of them specialise in bands. The one I used (John Brooks Studios) had a lot of experience with voice overs and rap artists, so he was ideal. The actors I found through a local agency. (Orla Cottingham, Robert Garrett.) Both of them are professional actors which made a huge difference to the quality of the recording and also saved time. (Professionals don’t fluff as often as amateurs.) Rather than just reading the script (like a weather report) they acted it – big difference. The recording took 4 days. I could have done it quicker, but I was after quality. Plus, it made it a stress less 4 days which I really enjoyed. The final job was the editing, which seemed to go on for ever. John Brooks, the studio owner, was a big help in this. He kept me sane. All the above is all very good, but of course it costs. The whole thing came slightly over £2,000. ($2600) I could afford it at the time because I was working. Now I’m on “gardening leave” so things are different. The whole process goes on and, on and, on and……but you do finally get there. I promise you will get there. When that happens, you will look back on it and say “Yes, that was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life.” I want to record another one of my books, but it takes money. The way things are I will have to sell some books before I can afford the cost. If anyone would like to share their thoughts occasionally, I’m on 3rdpersonPOV@gmail.com Cheers
