Summary

Keith

Yeah, I’m screwed up. I’ll admit it.

People think they know why. After all, my superstar brother’s past looms large.

Don’t I wish it were that simple?

It would be so easy to blame all my problems on the childhood tragedy that ripped my family in two...but it would also be a lie.

Sam knows the truth. She’s always known, and yet, she’s loved me from the start.

I try so hard to hold onto her, but I’m messed up.

And she’s not going to wait forever.

Samantha

No one saw us coming.

I was the quiet, smart girl on track to college.

He was the aimless high school surfer/stoner on track to expulsion.

We helped each other. We fell in love. We were supposed to live happily ever after.

But with Keith McKallister love has never been enough.

Impeccable!

Combine a gorgeous, heart twisting story, choc-a- block with character, humour, love, heartbreak and heart warming, and you have at your finger tips another of J Bengtsson's wonderful stories. The character development, the wit and writing, full of verve and emotion all combine to create an enchanting read. All of Julie's characters experience life's extremes and, with Keith, we have some poor choices to add to the mix. Sam is just a beautiful, strong soul. I love her!
Andi Arndt and Alex Kydd are fabulous choices for the story of Keith and Sam. They bring all the humour, wit and the sense of their struggle to find their place in life together, to vivid life. I was just completely caught up in their masterful story telling and relished every minute of this fabulous audio.💖💖💖

Fantastic continuation of the series

This was so good! filled with everything I know and love in a J. Bengtsson, filled with fantastic dialogue and white clever characters. The narration was capturing and well delivered!

Sweet and real young love to second chances

I've listened to the other stories in this series and was excited to hear Keith and Sam's story which I never imagined would've been so sweet and awesome and sad and a little tragic (don't worry you get a HEA!) I loved the beginning parts of their relationship in school, it was so lovely to see how the girl that goes unnoticed in school got together with one of the popular guys. Obviously I knew there was a tough bit coming with what happened to Jake but I never in a million years imagined poor Keith (and Sam by default) had such a hard time getting his life back together afterwards. It was painful and upsetting to read as you just wanted Keith to do the right thing for Sam. I loved the way they found each other again in later life and but then again had such sadness hit them again. This was a rollercoaster of a story and Bengtsson again with her beautiful story telling did an epic job! The narration also was perfect, Alex was a new to me narrator but he quickly became Keith in my mind and Andi as always has such an amazing voice that you can imagine her as a teenager or and adult. This is a must read if you've read the rest of the series!

love this series

I'm off to get the next book. you'll fall in love with this family so don't worry about spending the credit it's well worth it, just expect to spend more credits on all the books in the series. Read them in order though.

Enjoyable listen

J. Bengtsson is a reliably great author, and this book is a good addition to the series. I love how you see major events through a difference lens with each book and see how they have impacted everyone in the family, and the choices they make. It’s such a well thought out and well executed concept. The only downside to this book was I’m not particularly attracted to slightly dim stoners, though he was likeable. Also the drama towards the end was annoying and just there for plot drama but left me wanting to shake the characters to wake them up. The overall book was still well worth a listen though!
